“Solid, Knowledge Broker, and Strategist are the best words to describe Dr. Truman Hudson, Jr. I’ve had the pleasure of partnering with Dr. Hudson for over two decades. Our first encounter was during my previous role as the Executive Director of PEEPS. PEEPS was a youth development organization whose mission was to help teens in Detroit Michigan realize their potential. During my tenure with PEEPS, Dr. Hudson assisted me and our team with narrowing the focus of my bold vision. As a novice executive director, he provided valuable insights into my role, and helped build our board from the bottom up. With a commitment to excellence, he provided us with the guidance needed for increasing teens’ enrollment in college, and access to entrepreneurship and financial literacy programs. After five years of servant leadership with PEEPS, it became necessary for me to broaden my scope. Hence, I transitioned to serving as the Founder and Executive Director of the Cody Rouge Community Action Alliance (CRCAA). In leading CRCAA over the past 16 years, Dr. Hudson has played a pivotal role in equipping me, as well as our staff and board, with the skills needed for designing and deploying research based approaches towards advancing a youth, community, and economic development centered framework. When working with the board of directors, Dr. Hudson’s training style is like no other. He has a way with captivating and maintaining participation throughout the duration of a training. Through his facilitation, our board members were able to dream, plan, and implement strategies that set the organization up for success. Building on his work with our board and staff, Dr. Hudson also assisted our team with developing and becoming a best practice peer-leader model via CRCAA’s Youth Council. His trainings with the Youth Council were paramount to CRCAA becoming a lead agency for summer youth employment and internships in Detroit Michigan. From our inception forward, Dr. Hudson has been instrumental in assisting our team with creating a solid foundation. Through his guidance, CRCAA has increased its budget from a $160,000 annually to over $2 million. More importantly, through his effective and efficient training, the Cody Rouge neighborhood has become a model neighborhood. It is for these reasons, and many more that I highly recommend Dr. Truman Hudson, Jr. as an expert community builder who is a force to be reckoned with.”
