How can you stay on track during team meetings?
People need to be engaged for meetings to be effective. But typically, we use structures that benefit only a few, typically extroverted people who are comfortable talking on the spot. Everyone else is left out. So, change the structure. Here are some simple ideas. 1. Give people the agenda well ahead of time so people can think before they enter. 2. Switch up who is leading the meeting 3. Allow people to participate in creating the agenda 4. Go round-robin and allow everyone to participate before anyone goes twice 5. Build in some quiet reflection time so that people have a few minutes to collect their thoughts, and most importantly, ASK YOUR PEOPLE what would make the meetings more engaging. Include them in the solutions!
