A significant milestone in our decarbonization journey has been achieved through the excellent collaboration between our Schneider Electric teams and Shell Energy, resulting in the signing of a vPPA for 1.6 TWh of renewable energy over the next nine years.   Collaboration is the only way we will achieve an effective energy transition. We will also be working with Shell to develop new and existing digital solutions - technology is key to enabling governments and businesses at every part of the value chain across the world to focus on their decarbonization journey and achieve their net zero ambitions.   I'm looking forward to what more we can achieve through this partnership - for Schneider Electric, our customers and our planet.   #Sustainability #Decarbonization #Innovation #NetZero

Happy #WorldHabitatDay! 🌎 Today, we honor the habitats that sustain all life on earth and the natural world we call home. As Former First Lady of the United States Lady Bird Johnson once said, "The environment is where we all meet; where we all have a mutual interest; it is the one thing all of us share." In alignment with this year's theme of "Engaging Youth to Create a Better Urban Future," protecting our habitats unites generations and geographies. However, there is a need for widespread education on the threat of climate change and actionable steps to combat it. To truly inspire the next generation, we must lead by example. To reduce their environmental footprint, organizations can implement circular initiatives and participate in biodiversity programs. For instance, Schneider Electric collaborated with DCs For Bees, an initiative by Host in Ireland, involving companies, schools, and communities to address the decline in Ireland’s bee population – a crucial aspect of the ecosystem. Last year, we contributed to planting a total of 3,587 orchards across Ireland! This according to the August 19, 2024, edition of the U.S. Energy Information Administration’s 'Today in Energy'. Plant developers are expected to add 62.8 gigawatts (GW) of new electric capacity this year – up 55% from 2023. Solar (37-GW), battery storage (15-GW), and wind (7.1-GW) account for more than 94% of the total, while new natural gas (2.6-GW) and nuclear (1.1-GW) power plants round out the rest. Day 2 of the workshop began with discussions on out-of-phase conditions and synchronous condenser behavior, led by a workshop attendee. John proceeded to cover dynamics, modeling, and control of synchronous machines. Then, Adam Sparacino, Consulting Director within PSED, covered Voltage-Sourced Converters (VSCs) and Inverter-Based Resources (IBRs). The day concluded with John discussing an example system to illustrate the response of the system to a disturbance covering 100% synchronous to 100% electrically coupled generation. A key reminder for me is the respect for the expertise and craft required for obtaining credible simulations, encompassing equipment design, equipment operation, control, protection, device, plant, and system knowledge, data verification, modeling, and interpreting findings. In today's fast-paced and high-volume simulation landscape, it is important to acknowledge the 'art', skill, experience, and expertise required in producing credible simulations.
