“One of the main reasons I decided to work with Itential was Daniel. His relaxed and easy going personality, paired with his vision for the company culture made him fun and inspiring to work with. Through my time there I appreciated his honesty and up front nature as that something important to me, and a great quality as a leader.”

Datacenter Virtualization 2014
-
Continuation of the DCV 2013 project. For 2014 we focused on three distinct substreams for datacenter virtualization.
1. DMZ Virtual Environment Upgrade
- Replacing out of support HP server hardware with Cisco/NetApp FlexPod reference architecture
- Managing communications and requests across multiple security, server, and network teams to coordinate the approval of changes to our secure perimeter network

1. DMZ Virtual Environment Upgrade
- Replacing out of support HP server hardware with Cisco/NetApp FlexPod reference architecture
- Managing communications and requests across multiple security, server, and network teams to coordinate the approval of changes to our secure perimeter network
- Facilitating upgrade of our UCS infrastructure to UCSM 2.2 as a prerequisite to the changes
2. Cisco CUCM Implementation
- Implementing core components of Cisco's Unified Call Manager telephony system in STL Datacenter
- Developing North American Zone 5 digit dial plan to be used as a template for a global 5 digit dial plan managed by CUCM
- KPIs around deploying new Cisco handsets and softphones and training employees for operation
3. Global WiFi Deployment
- Deploying new Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers, switches, and WAPs to enable a new and well managed 802.11ac wireless network on multiple floors of the STL Corporate offices
- Hardware implementation will be managed by Cisco ISE, Prime, and MSE to allow single sign on for employees across multiple devices through an increased coverage area
- Project is limited to IT and senior zone management employees to enable long term testing and to secure funding for full zone rollouts in future years -

Project scope focused on fixing the network basics at 50+ remote sites in North America. Sites include Metal Container Corporation plants, Regional Sales Offices, National Retail Sales locations, and regional Distributors and Distribution Centers. Due to the industrial and rural locations of many of the sites they have not received a basic network bandwidth upgrade in many years.

-Upgrade the network experience at 52+ locations to modern standards and to elicit a "high-five" response
-Implement AT&T Metro Ethernet private fiber solutions as primary network circuit at majority of tier 1 sites
-Implement business class high speed broadband solutions as secondary or failover network circuit at all locations
-Implement Cisco router upgrades at limited number of sites to enable Cisco iWAN optimization opportunities (DMVPN, PfR, remote management with ISE, MSE, Prime, and CUCM capabilities)
-Work with zone procurement to bundle vendor circuit pricing to allow more sites at a lower cost
-Work with zone procurement to engage national general contractor to manage all site prep and last mile requirements -
MCC IT Infrastructure
-
Project is responsible for virtualizing the IT infrastructure at two Metal Container Corporation plants. Aging server infrastructure that controls plant-specific software and monitoring controls will be replaced by a FlexPod solution. Cisco UCS-C servers will work with Quantum and NetApp products to provide a virtualized server and storage framework for the plant's IT environment.

This project allows me to manage a team responsible for removing EOL firewalls and migrating an isolated secure virtual environment into new production clusters. The team is comprised of two separate contractor teams, one focused on network changes and one focused on virtual and physical server technologies. This project reduced the complexity of our secure application tier and eliminated the datacenter licensing costs for that environment.

In 2013 we upgraded and expanded the capacity of the existing Cisco UCS infrastructure. This portion of the project added a total of 18 UCS-B series blades to the environment as well as 17 UCS-C series rack mounts. The work included separating the environment into separate pods for VDI and VSI, and upgrading the fabric interconnects and fabric extenders throughout the environment. The UCS upgrade portion was delivered on schedule and provided more than a 50% bump in capacity for both the virtual server environment and the Citrix virtual desktop environment.Other creators
