Cold & Food Facilities
The Pacific Northwest, especially Seattle-Tacoma, has long been a vital center for dairy production. With lush pastures and a favorable climate, this region supports a booming dairy industry that provides fresh milk, cheese, and other products to markets near and far. Seattle-Tacoma’s role in the U.S. dairy sector is only growing, bringing with it a rising need for cold storage solutions to keep products fresh and maintain their quality. With high volumes of milk and dairy goods moving through daily, advanced #ColdStorage is critical in preserving nutritional value and extending the shelf life of perishable items. #SupplyChainEfficiency and #RefrigerationTechnology are more than just buzzwords here—they’re the backbone of a dairy system that safely and efficiently delivers temperature-sensitive products across local and national markets. Cold storage facilities in Seattle-Tacoma are essential, leveraging energy-efficient technology to support this vibrant dairy supply chain. If you’re looking to invest or expand operations in the Cold & Food supply chain, let’s connect on how you will impact food security for communities across America! Happy 🐫 day! Here's what you may have missed in the CPG world this past week: Better Sour announced today it has partnered with Walt Disney Animation Studios to launch a new Passion Fruit flavor of its sour gummies featuring “Moana 2”-inspired packaging, marking the brand’s first single-flavor SKU. Danone’s Silk brand is introducing a plant-based milk formulated for children. Silk Kids is formulated with oats and peas and contains 8 grams of protein per serving. Refrigerated donut brand Drumroll Snacks is seeking to expand its distribution footprint further in the natural channel, with the support of a recent $3 million investment from CPG brand incubator 7 Mile Brands. FitCrunch has been acquired by 1440 Foods which already operates active nutrition brands MET-Rx Nutrition Inc., Pure Protein, and Body Fortress. Peanut butter brand One Trick Pony (OTP) has secured seed funding from Collaborative Fund, an early investor in companies such as Sweetgreen, Blue Bottle Coffee, and OLIPOP PBC. The new funds will support retail growth, new innovations, and an upcoming packaging overhaul in early 2025. Plant-based superfood cookie producer Love + Chew Brands is expanding from 177 to 500 Whole Foods Market locations nationwide. The natural retail chain carries five of the brand’s flavors: Chocolate Chia, Banana Bread, Cherry Almond, Mint Cacao Brownie, and high-protein Peanut Butter Chip for $2.99 per 2 oz. cookie. Lifeway Foods, Inc. has rejected Danone SA’s unsolicited offer to acquire the kefir maker for approximately $283 million, claiming that the offer undervalued the company. Danone is currently a minority shareholder in the business. Krusteaz is launching a baking shortcut with Krusteaz Batters. The refrigerated batter is available in chocolate brownie, vanilla cupcake, and chocolate cupcake. Krusteaz Batters may be purchased at Kroger and Walmart. Waterloo Sparkling Water is turning to limited-time launches to expand its reach in the $8.2 billion ready-to-drink mocktail space. Waterloo debuted Pomegranate Açaí this fall and brought back the seasonal offering Spiced Apple for a limited time. In collaboration with the launch, Waterloo introduced nonalcoholic cocktail recipes designed around the flavors, including ones inspired by a pear martini, negroni and ginger fizz.

When we set up this study, we weren’t sure what to expect. We *hoped* our gut feelings on consumer preferences aligned with reality. Turns out we were right on the money! And the overall best apple of all 8 samples? Ambrosia Gold! 65% of consumers picked Ambrosia Gold as their ultimate favorite. Read all about Kanzi, Juici, and Evercrisp and see how they fared in taste testing against their core counterparts. Information like this helps us make decisions on plantings, shelf positioning and marketing tactics, and we have some great tools to promote around these themes. Check it out!

Look Ma, we made it to Sprouts Farmers Market ! 🥂 3 flavors are landing in 30+ select locations in Southern California as part of Sprouts’ Innovation Table and we are thrilled! Big shoutout to the team at Pod Foods for including EATABLE INC. in their Box of Innovation which was instrumental in having us be part of this launch alongside other fab CPG brands. As much as we’re celebrating today, I also wanted to take a second to call out (esp to my non-CPG friends who may not realize this)… The road to mass grocery and retail is HARD AF. 😅 It has always been a dream of Vincent Li and I as founders to see EATABLE popcorn on the shelves of major grocery stores. But truth be told, this journey to bridge EATABLE’s brand identity from a premium gift/department store brand to mass grocery brand has been chock full of headwinds. We’ve pivoted countless times over the last 2 years to tweak: - Pricing (one of the BIGGEST hurdles for emerging brands) - Pack size - Pack design and branding - Distribution model - Logistics and supply chain - Channel strategy - Trade marketing support strategy - Balancing a lean marketing budget between online and offline to drive sellthrough and velocity Getting on shelf is an important first step, but there’s lots of heavy lifting to be done to ensure we sell OFF the shelf too! 🛒 Our journey has been full of small tests, lots of failures and rejection along the way, which have resulted in a TON of learnings (for future posts!) In the meantime, if you or someone you know is in SoCal - Please shop EATABLE INC. at your local Sprouts and grab a bag of popcorn that will POP a party in your mouth, and start conversations at your next gathering! How we perform in these next 90 days at their Innovation Table will determine whether we get to stay on the shelves for the long haul! 🥳 Any CPG friends who have experience selling into Sprouts I’d love to connect and learn from you! And if you happen to see us in store, help a girl out and send a quick photo or “shelfie” with EATABLE - it’ll make my day in more ways than you know! 🍿+🥂 #EATABLE #CPGbusiness #CPGfounder #foodstartup #RetailLaunch #Sprouts #SoCal

Il était une brasserie
"American breweries are currently at about half their capacity. That’s not good! But it’s actually worse that in looks because growth has been dead flat for three years. Were the industry growing, it would need headspace, so to speak, for future expansion. Here’s Bart: “When you’re growing rapidly, excess capacity is a good thing so you can keep up with that growth. Athletic has a lot of excess capacity right now with the purchase of that former Ballast Point facility, but no one thinks that’s an issue. So the ratio in the mid-2010s was different because brewers were rapidly growing into it. As I pointed out in 2015, the 2012 and 2014 ratios look the same, but 2014 production was actually bigger than 2012 total capacity. “So you need to understand the capacity number in the context of its time. If we were growing 18% again right now, even 51% might not be that bad (at 18% you’d use up all that excess capacity in 4 years), but at static or negative growth, it’s a lot worse, because it represents investments that aren’t being utilized.” I don’t have a lot more to add to this, except to say that if you want to open a brewery in the next few years, you might consider starting a contract brewery or alternating proprietorship. Not only would it save you a ton of money at the outset, but you might be doing another brewery a favor in helping them fill up those tanks." https://lnkd.in/esCxj5RU
