The Architects in Schools (AIS) program, a cornerstone initiative by AIA Chicago Foundation Board , just wrapped up another successful cycle, Fall 2024. The program, which brings architecture professionals into classrooms, continues to highlight the importance of fostering #creativity, #problemsolving, and #spatialawareness among young learners. This year we enjoyed the hospitality of Chicago Public Schools Whittier Dual Language Academy and Daniel R Cameron Public School. Huge shout out to Cristian Andres Yugsi Diaz who went over and beyond the call of duty as Lead Mentor at Whittier. Here at design group JEDI Incorporated, we are grateful to be amongst this cohort of individuals and firms who truly invest in shaping young minds for tomorrow. The Mission of AIS AIS serves as a bridge between the architectural community and the educational sphere, aiming to inspire students by teaching them about the built environment. It’s not just about architecture; it’s about #empoweringstudents to think critically about #design, #sustainability, and the spaces they inhabit daily. Key Highlights from This Year’s Program Engagement: Architects collaborated with educators to deliver hands-on lessons in design and planning, emphasizing the relevance of architecture to community and individual well-being. Creativity in Action: Students worked on design projects, learning about the fundamentals of architecture while solving real-world problems.   Impact: Participants gained insights into architecture as a career and how design shapes the world around us, sparking interest in STEAM (#Science, #Technology, #Engineering, #Arts, and #Math) fields. ✨ Proud. Joyous. Passionate. ✨ Just a few words that describe what our Principal Engineer, Daniel Burke, feels when he works on #engineering designs for complex buildings. With the National Veterans Memorial and Museum in Columbus, Ohio, he even found his once-in-a-lifetime project. 😍 What made him incredibly proud was being involved in such a challenging #construction and being able to say afterwards: "Oh, that was me." As he says, "Every #building has a piece of me in it. That's why I love what I do so much."
