A bunch of HireArt folks’ll be at the Contingent Workforce Summit next week in Dallas. There’s a lot I’m trying to improve my understanding of this year. Stop by Booth 401 or grab me at the bar if you want to talk about: ➖ The decrease in US staffing spend, the subsequent increase in international spend and what that means for the industry. Program after program is seeing SOW spend increase and US staff augmentation spend decrease with a tool-set (not to mention pricing models) that were built with much more US staff aug in mind. ➖ You hear a lot about “Staff aug disguised as SOW”, and I feel like the default assumption as to why that happens is that staffing firms want to re-skin what they’re offering. But more and more buyers seem to straight up prefer SOW to staff aug. I have theories as to why, but don’t want to share them publicly yet because there’s a non-zero chance they’re not very good theories. Tell me if you want me to bounce a few bad(?) ideas by you. ➖ Why VMS implementations always seem to take 12 months. If you recently implemented a VMS or are in the midst of it, I’m very curious to hear where it went sideways. And if you’re on the VMS side, I want to hear about the crazy customizations customers are requesting. ➖ Whether this picture of me is officially too old to be representative and needs to be updated. ➖ MSP pricing strategies. This one’s convenient because I got assigned** by SIA to host a roundtable on this. But this is something I’ve been thinking about a ton, particularly as it relates to small and mid-size programs who often have trouble incentivizing support and strategy from the MSP/VMS world. I think the roundtable I’m hosting is called “Alternative CW Program Pricing Models.” Candidly, I’m not sure what I have to share is about “alternatives” so much as it’s about understanding how best to leverage a spend, understanding where it goes, and making sure you’re able to incentivize your partners to solve your biggest problems with, you know, money. ➖ What the big box of cash at our booth is for. (**Read: I didn’t respond quickly enough — or at all — when they asked to pick a topic.)

What is not using one costing you? 🤔 There are 3 main ways to hire FTEs, and most people are familiar with them on the surface: ✅Hiring using internal TA teams ✅Using an agency on a Direct-Hire model ✅Contract-to-Hire/Temp-to-Hire through a staffing firm Many executives and TA teams decide which they prefer for their company based on organizational norms and past experiences. And a lot will impose a "no agencies" rule to save on budget. But have you looked at the math to see what makes the most sense for you?
