The 2025 Affordable Care Act marketplace open enrollment has began on November 1st. Below are five key things to know: 1. Those who reside in the state of Georgia and wish to purchase an ACA plan will no longer have access to the federal website. They must enroll through the state-based Georgia Access, the state’s new marketplace exchange. 2. ACA enrollment navigators have more support to assist consumers with understanding their coverage options and enrolling in the marketplace. 3. Consumers will have an improved shopping experience with simplified options to more easily compare and contrast their coverage options. 4. DACA recipients are eligible for coverage. 5. HealthCare.gov will include a voter registration question for applicants to indicate their interest in receiving information about voter registration. As part of our BRIDGE Georgia healthcare coverage coalition efforts, we're traveling the state meeting with Georgia's Regional Commissions, local Chambers of Commerce, and civic groups like Rotary and Kiwanis, sharing county-level economic impact data. By expanding Medicaid, Georgia would gain 51,264 new jobs spread across the state, increase economic output by $9.4B annually, & increase Georgia's GDP annually by $5.5B. ICYMI: Central Atlanta Progress officials unveiled a draft master plan for the multi-phase project on October 23 to the organization's members. The plan outlines a few key points: 📍 A goal that 30% of new and existing residential units within approximately half mile of The Stitch will be affordable. 📍 Creating a public-private partnership with support from the city of Atlanta as the governance structure for the completed Stitch park. The city would retain ownership of the park, but the nonprofit organization would take the primary role for operations, management, and maintenance. 📍 Define a zoning subarea district for the Stitch. Characteristics such as floor area ratio, parking, and more can be defined through a zoning overlay, much like what the Atlanta Beltline implemented. In addition to zoning changes, the master plan proposes the creation of a special service district where commercial and multifamily property owners would pay an additional tax to cover costs for The Stitch’s operations and maintenance. The self-taxing district would be similar to the what the City Council approved for the Atlanta Beltline in 2021.

Medicaid expansion would greatly benefit the disability community, providing needed healthcare coverage for those who "fall in the gap" between accessing Medicaid and affordable healthcare. Does your organization care about Brand Architecture? It should. Brand Architecture is one of the most commonly overlooked areas within branding, but an integral part, ensuring all branches, products, or services within your organization are cohesively aligned. South Carolina: Launching a Legacy January 2024 ushered in a new era for South Carolina's economic development strategy. To build upon decades of economic development achievement while aligning the state for long-term competitiveness, the South Carolina Department of Commerce unveiled its new brand and tagline, "Launch to Legacy" during the first-ever Governor's Economic Summit. An EVolving Automotive Industry The southern region of the United States is known as the battery belt – with South Carolina often referred to as the “buckle.” It is one of only a few states to have every phase of the battery lifecycle. Close proximity to battery suppliers helps drive investment interest from automotive companies needing a manufacturing home for their EV sectors. Positioned halfway between New York and Miami and within 1,000 miles of nearly 70 percent of the total U.S. population, South Carolina’s location helps companies provide electric vehicles to the world. In December 2022, AESC, a world-leading battery technology company, announced it was bringing 1,170 jobs to Florence County. Through an $810 million investment, the company is establishing operations and planning to supply battery cells to be used in electric vehicles produced at BMW Plant Spartanburg. One year later, and six months after the company broke ground, AESC announced an additional $810 million investment and 450 more jobs. The company grew its intended investment by $1.5 billion in March 2024, announcing plans for a second EV battery manufacturing facility to supply EV battery components for BMW Group’s Mexico assembly operations. The additional facility will create 1,080 new jobs. The Birmingham Business Journal hosted an insightful panel last night on the Future of Health Care, addressing critical challenges and potential solutions.
