    I assisted in creating an environment where new technologies were developed, and training was provided. This includes the "Voice over IIT" service provides, video calling, conferencing and many other services to the IIT-SAT community. The VoIP appliances of many of our industry sponsors and collaborators have been added to this network, for testing under real-world circumstances.

    Here is another way to picture it: You are the captain of your small boat, sitting at the tiller steering the boat. Ahead of the boat and pulling you along are your fully engaged employees swimming furiously. Every couple of meters one of these employees dives to the sea-floor, grabs a handful of valuable treasure and tosses it into the boat.

    Swimming alongside the boat are your somewhat engaged employees. If they happen to swim into a little treasure they’ll toss it towards the boat, some may even land in the boat. Mostly they are swimming along-side you.

    At the back of the boat, hanging onto ropes and letting the boat pull them along are your unengaged employees. And behind them, also tethered to the boat are your disengaged employees. They’re swimming in the wrong direction and off at angles, impeding progress and making it hard to keep the boat on course.

    Now remember you are the one paying for each of these groups, and you’re paying each employee about the same amount! If an employee isn’t swimming hard at the front of the boat, then why are you paying for that employee at all?

    On top of that, it is much easier to manage a fully engaged employee than it is to deal with one who’s not engaged. You have to spend more time and energy on keeping those less engaged employees doing what needs to be done. We’d like to see you do less of that hard work and much more of the easy work. Moreover, we want to show you how to make the easy work become even easier. It is simple, you should only be paying for fully engaged employees.
