Recruiters, do you specialize? I hope the answer is yes. I specialize in Aerospace/Defense Industry when those companies manufacture or build something. That is my niche, my sweet spot, my specialty. Do I deviate, yes but that is highly dependent on the situation. I spoke to a potential client today and this director said, they have such difficulty using agency recruiters because they do not have experience recruiting for their aerospace specialty. If I did not specialize, then I would not be able to differentiate myself from other agencies. You see, I've started and either sold or merged two aerospace/defense companies and that was before I started a recruiting agency, The Patriot Group, Inc. (TPGI) back in 20212. As recruiters, the first thing we look for in a new opening is "how do I sell this?" At IEX our pitch almost always starts with the important missions that our contracts support. Most of the positions we have here directly impact national security. Over the last couple weeks, a lot of us here in the Tampa Bay area have been reminded of another very important mission: getting power back after a storm. I really can't say enough good things about the linemen who dedicate their lives to ensure we can power our things. If you're looking for a meaningful profession, this is a great place to start. Average compensation: Entry Level: $50-60K Journeyman: $70-90K Senior: $100K+ Storm Duty: eligible for overtime pay, double pay, per diem/travel pay, standby pay, and bonuses $$$ How to become a lineman: 1. Apprenticeship Programs - generally 3-4 years and combine paid on-the-job training with classroom instruction. 💲 Associated Costs: These are typically paid positions. There will be costs for tools and equipment. Training is generally covered or considered part of compensation. 2. Technical School Programs - Trade or Technical school that typically last from a few months to a year. Additional apprenticeship is required after the school to gain more experience. 💲Associated Costs: Programs can range from $5,000 to $20,000 - also gear, tools, and books will run you from $1,500 to $5,000. For any transitioning veterans: GI Bill can cover many of the costs associated with becoming a lineman, from technical school programs to apprenticeships. Just be sure to confirm the school or apprenticeship is approved through the VA before committing. #power #jobs

Understanding body language is crucial for professionals in various fields, as it can significantly impact communication, relationships, and success in the workplace. It is especially important during an interview when you are making that first impression on a potential new employer. Here are a few things to keep in mind: - First Impressions: Body language influences the interviewer's first impression of you. A firm handshake, good posture, and confident demeanor create a positive initial impression and set the tone for the interview. - Confidence and Assertiveness: Confidence is key during an interview. Maintain eye contact, sit up straight, and avoid fidgeting to convey confidence and assertiveness. It demonstrates that you believe in your abilities and are well-prepared for the interview. - Active Listening and Engagement: Demonstrate active listening by nodding, maintaining eye contact, and using attentive body language throughout the interview. Engage with the interviewer by leaning slightly forward and asking thoughtful questions to demonstrate interest and enthusiasm. - Authenticity and Transparency: Authenticity in body language is essential to come across as genuine and trustworthy. Avoid crossing your arms, which can signal defensiveness, and use natural gestures to express yourself authentically. - Managing Nervousness: Pay attention to your body language to manage nervousness during the interview. Take deep breaths, relax your shoulders, and maintain a calm demeanor to project confidence and professionalism. - Mirroring and Rapport Building: Subtly mirroring the interviewer's body language can help build rapport and establish a connection. However, be mindful not to mimic excessively or inauthentically. Once you've nailed that interview, signed your offer, and started at your new job, be sure to continue to be aware of the nonverbal signals you're sending and pay close attention to: - Approachability: Open and welcoming body language, like smiling, having an open posture, and using appropriate facial expressions, makes you approachable to coworkers. It encourages open communication and facilitates building positive relationships in the workplace. - Professionalism: Maintaining proper posture, avoiding slouching or fidgeting, and dressing appropriately contribute to projecting professionalism in the workplace. It reflects respect for oneself and the organization's values. - Non-verbal Cues in Meetings: Pay attention to non-verbal cues, such as facial expressions, gestures, and body positioning, during meetings. They can indicate agreement, disagreement, confusion, or interest, helping to gauge the mood and dynamics of the discussion. Know that non-verbal communication exists, and these cues often convey more information than verbal communication alone.
