Per the below AdExchanger article, #RokuExchange just announced it will pass more data signals through the bid stream to #DSP partners. Though the data signals passed through to #programmatic buying platforms won't include "show-level transparency" yet, Roku will provide #advertisers and #agencies with more metadata about networks, channels, show genres and the length of ad breaks during a specific stream. Hub's annual "Decoding the Default" report tracks the services, content, and devices consumers turn to first when they're ready to watch TV content. 📺 For the first time in five years of tracking, the combined "Big 5" #SVODs (Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Hulu, and Max) - which do not offer live TV - are more likely to be the "first stop" for 46% of viewers. DSP versus Direct – Vision Media #POV While there is some truth to the cost savings benefits outlined in the recent Ad Exchanger article, there are several strategic questions that would need to be answered before moving CTV spending out of a DSP to an ad-server direct vendor: ·   Reduced targeting capabilities - #DSP has numerous data integrations that allow for building and scaling more niche audiences. With Tatari or the CTV partner, the advertiser is subject to the data sets/audiences available. Direct integrations can be more efficient for broad-reaching, awareness-focused campaigns, but result in more ad waste from reduced targeting. Programmatic is the best option for reaching a more refined audience in CTV inventory. ·     Reduced reach/frequency management - When audience-first digital media is run through multiple partners that are not integrated through a single source, like a DSP, then managing reach and frequency across CTV inventory and other channels (pre-roll, display, streaming audio) becomes more difficult. Again, this will result in more ad waste. Some DSP partners, like The Trade Desk, offer unique identifiers that allow advertisers to control frequency across all media running through the platform. ·     Reduced measurement - Similar to reach/frequency management, uniting audience-targeted media through a single DSP allows advertisers to better understand users’ path to conversion.
