Why is there so much variance? EH: Well - why is there a variance at a restaurant? Do you expect a superior experience predicated on the price you pay? Do you expect La Caille restaurant to be a different experience than Little Ceasar's? P.C: I get it. Who can I trust? Who can I depend on? Who do I want to work with? EH: Now you're getting somewhere! P.C. - We didn't talk about price. Builder A is charging 18%, Builder B is charging 15% - why is Builder A showing a bid sheet that is less than Builder B? EH: Great question! Be thoughtful in your analysis. Don't succumb to high pressure sales tactics either. This is your home... and this experience is going to last 18-24 months. You're really becoming business partners with your builder. PC: How much do YOU charge? ....... Aah yes. Happy to share we’re prototyping a new notification system for REDD users. This time, not only to make CRE information more accessible, but also less annoying 😉 With the platform's increasing usage (great!), we’ve doubled our email volume in the last 3 months (not so great). And we all know the preferred state of the unread email counter is “zero”. So, we're starting with cleaning up the email system. It's been an interesting past 6 months. After leaving my position at Golden1 last year, I decided to spend some time validating an idea I had that I thought might be helpful to homebuyers and homeowners. After some initial validation, I pitched the idea to my brother, and we worked on an initial business plan. Still waaaay early, but we have some good momentum. For myself, I've been enjoying being in a technical founder role again, helping to build an interesting product from an idea to a working API and mobile app. It's also been great being out talking to people about their thoughts and ideas on what we're trying to do. I'm super excited to see where we can take this! #startups #startupgrind

I’m impressed by the latest retail and dining data from the start of summer. Placer.ai analyzed foot traffic and is reporting positive, upward trends. This tells us that consumers are feeling optimistic about the current economy. June visits in-store increased by 6.8%, as compared to June 2023. It is also great to see that grocery stores were major winners in June, which could be due to customers seeking to cut costs by making more of their food at home. Confusion reigns in the real estate world, or maybe in the world in general. Doorify MLS is the new name for TriangleMLS, a new brand to show that we have grown far beyond RTP, and that we have something to say to consumers. It sounds like Ownify but that's only a happy coincidence. We are not affiliated except that Ownify sponsored our #proptechsouth event, and we like what they are doing for first-time homeowners. But did you know they work with Buyer Reps? They are one of the buyers in these transactions and they pay Buyer Reps. Their agreement guarantees a flat percentage rate plus 10% of any amount the BA negotiates off of the list price. If the BA is a good negotiator, or the listing was overpriced, or both, they could make more, quite a bit more. That's seems like a great solution to me, aligning incentives in a very transparent way for the buyer and the seller. Cool.
