Women in Games International (WIGI)

On the 12th day of Christmas, Christina-Marie gave to me her love of Women in Games International (WIGI)! I was so honored to be able to have attended WIGI’s 20 year kick off yesterday at Netflix here in LA. I genuinely don’t know what I would do without the amazing community I’ve found with WIGI. When I entered the game space full time it was the first thing I sought and they were critical in me being able to found Moms in Gaming. I am so excited for all their upcoming initiatives and couldn’t be more proud of Joanie Kraut’s leadership! The best part of last night? Meeting TaShanique Elzie in person. We manifested this meeting when we met up a few months ago to do WIGI’s cheat codes podcast. I could rant and rave all day about the power of community, the impact of women and how deserve equal space in the industry but I think you know that. It was truly great being part of the BIPOC Virtual Job Fair as a speaker created by Women in Games International (WIGI) , International Game Developers Association (IGDA®), Black In Gaming and having my own breakout room. I cherished the chance to be there, meeting people from other countries, helping them with portfolio and CV reviews, and trying to assist them in getting into the industry. It was an incredible opportunity to share ideas, have wonderful conversations, showcase interesting initiatives, and explore the abundance of amazing talents out there! 😁 😄 This event was an online gathering designed to connect Black, Indigenous, and People of Color with opportunities in the video game industry. The industry needs more events like this to foster inclusion, provide support, and highlight the incredible talent from diverse backgrounds. I have to give a big thanks to the amazing women who put all of this together and made such a tremendous effort! A heartfelt thank-you to all the amazing people who spent their Saturday making this event rock. Feeling extremely lucky that I was able to attend the #BIPOCVirtualJobFair yesterday! It was a wonderful time and I was able to meet and connect with amazing people. The entire experience left me feeling a bit more optimistic on the state of the games industry. Would like to thank the IGDA Foundation, Black In Gaming , Women in Games International (WIGI) for hosting the event, and special shout out to Junae Benne Tech 🎮 Games Journalist 🎤 Creative for coming up with the idea for such a great event!

Hi everyone! Today, I just finished attending the BIPOC Virtual Job Fair! 😃 It was so cool meeting so many new people who want to be or are already part of the gaming industry. The event was hosted by Women in Games International (WIGI), Black In Gaming, and International Game Developers Association (IGDA®), and it was such a cool thing to experience. For anyone new here, I’m an aspiring concept and 3D character artist, and I’ll be graduating in Spring 2025. I’m also super excited because my team is working on shipping out our first Steam game in the next couple of months called Coral Gardens ! I have experience using Cinema 4D and Unity, and I’d love to learn Unreal Engine and Blender soon to add them to my workflow.
