The 2024 growing season is quickly wrapping up! It’s been a fantastic year for oak mast, and we’ve gathered acorns from almost every native oak species in Ohio—swamp white, white, bur, black, chestnut, pin, shingle, and red oak! 🌳 While it’s been a quieter year for other tree species, we’ve also collected hickory, walnut, poplar, cherry, and dogwood seeds, adding to our diverse inventory. Next up: preparing over 30 species of wildflower seeds, including goldenrods and asters—key species essential to Northeast Ohio’s ecosystems. And we’re especially excited to have collected Dusty Goldenrod seeds, an endangered species found in only one location in Ohio! Over the next few months, keep an eye out for volunteer events on seed cleaning and propagation.
