  • 🌟October is Blindness Awareness Month. Our Founder, Lorace (Tianshu) Zhang, reflects on a memorable conversation with a remarkable glaucoma patient, Lena. “Lena is one of the most beautiful and vibrant people I have ever met. In her mid-70s, she is bubbly, active, and stylish, with a passion for yoga and aqua acrobatics. She has managed glaucoma for 15 years, and her ophthalmologist is thrilled with her progress.” However, glaucoma and sight loss carry a profound weight that influences daily life and well-being, as Lena shares: “I’ve been reading memoirs from people who are blind. It’s tough to read, but I need to prepare myself for the possibility of going blind.” On that day, she pointed to her sweater and asked, “Would I be able to tell this is my favorite sweater just by touching the textile?” Lena’s insights made us more determined to improve the delivery and management of eye drops, the first line of treatment for glaucoma. We thank Lena and many, many more eye drop users who kindly shared their time and stories with us. We are always here to listen and support, and we take pride in contributing to better eye care for Australians. #BlindnessAwarenessMonth

What a fun and rewarding few days in Singapore! Our Co-Founder Lorace (Tianshu) Zhang enjoyed connecting with the local innovation ecosystem, including MedTech Actuator, Singapore Biodesign, A*StartCentral, and the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade). Thank you, Evon Liu from Medtech Actuator, for generously hosting us and sharing your insights into Singapore's ophthalmic innovation landscape, drawing on your experience as a clinician and innovation facilitator. It was wonderful to visit Singapore Biodesign to catch up with old friends Mark Chong and Masaomi Saeki, meet new friends Alexander Tonkin and Xiaoxi Wang, and learn from Anthony Chong about the innovation supported by A*StartCentral. A special thanks to A/Prof Desmond Y.R. Chong for your valuable connections and advice on technology commercialization in Singapore! We also had the opportunity to learn from the global ecosystem expert Diana Pang about the Singaporean commercialization landscape, as well as the challenges and opportunities for startups targeting Singapore as a beachhead. We're excited to explore future collaborations and opportunities within Singapore’s dynamic innovation landscape. Looking forward to continuing these meaningful conversations and driving impactful change together! #MedTech #EyeHealth #HealthcareInnovation

  • In just two weeks, our CEO Lorace (Tianshu) Zhang, will be heading to Singapore for a five-day visit to explore and connect with the local community. Did you know that around 3% of Singaporeans over the age of 50 are affected by glaucoma, and this percentage rises with age, reaching almost 10% for those aged 70 and above? Additionally, according to the Singapore National Eye Centre, approximately 34% of blindness cases in Singapore are due to glaucoma. These statistics highlight the pressing need for improved eye care options. One highlight of this trip will be the visit to MedTech Actuator Singapore, a leading accelerator program that supports health start-ups in scaling operations and commercialising innovations. At Vysum, we are dedicated to empowering patients and clinicians with advanced delivery and management tools for eye drop treatment. Our mission is to make a positive impact on the lives of those affected by glaucoma and other eye conditions. Stay tuned for more updates on Lorace's visit and our initiatives in Singapore. Together, let's create a brighter future for eye health! 🌍✨ #MedTech #EyeHealth #HealthcareInnovation
