DoorDash provided an intriguing graphic in their Q4 2023 Investor Letter showing Dashing as a filler on top of part-time and full-time employment The average Dasher works 4 hours a week during weeks that they Dash and 90% Dash less than 10 hours a week. 82% have another source of income or are retired. Virtual brands function exactly the same way. They help restaurants fill in their excess capacity to provide a more robust earnings potential and in-restaurant / on-menu can provide the same ‘middle place’ that part-time and IC work fill in the DoorDash graphic.
