Great news for barbecue lovers in Japan! The global barbecue trend is catching on in Japan, and USMEF is meeting with exporters and foodservice accounts to discuss how U.S. beef can meet this new demand. USMEF Marketing Director Tatsuru Kasatani reports growing interest in U.S. beef brisket, which has traditionally had limited demand in Japan. This summer, USMEF tested the market by supplying samples to 22 Japanese distributors, processors, restaurants, and a leading barbecue association. 🌟 Record-Breaking Pork Exports to Central America in 2024! 🌟 Thanks to impressive growth in Honduras and rising demand in Costa Rica, October pork exports to Central America reached 14,601 mt, up 6% from last year, with value increasing 11% to $46.9 million. January-October shipments soared 21% in volume and 30% in value, totaling $390.9 million! 🌎 #USMEF

October U.S. beef exports to Mexico rose 7% to 19,723 mt, with a 5% increase in value to $108.4 million. January-October shipments to Mexico are up 13% in volume and 15% in value, totaling $1.12 billion. #USMEF

Despite a slight dip in October, U.S. pork exports to Mexico are still 6% above last year's record pace, reaching 948,932 mt and valued at $2.1 billion. #USMEF

October exports of U.S. lamb totaled 185 mt, up 2% from a year ago, though value fell about 8% to just over $1 million. January-October lamb exports were 12% above last year at 2,298 mt, while value climbed 14% to $12.1 million. #USMEF

U.S. Beef exports to China/Hong Kong surged 16% in October, reaching 20,493 mt, the highest since June 2023. Export value also climbed 17% to $190.6 million. 📈 In Korea, October beef exports hit 19,638 mt, up 5% from last year, with a 10% increase in value to $191.7 million. #USMEF

Year-to-date, pork exports increased 5% to 2.49 million metric tons, valued at $7.07 billion. For the full year, exports are projected to surpass 3 million metric tons for the first time, breaking both the 2020 volume record and last year’s value record. #USMEF

October U.S. beef exports rose 1% year-over-year to 105,269 metric tons, with a 3% increase in value to $860.4 million. Exports to Mexico remained strong, while shipments to South Korea and China/Hong Kong rebounded. Year-to-date, beef export value increased 4% to $8.68 billion, despite a 2% volume decline to 1.066 million metric tons. #USMEF
