Unite to Light recently hosted our third annual "Unite to Light the Night" art festival and fundraiser at the Community Arts Workshop in Santa Barbara on October 18th and 19th. This vibrant event brought together over 50 artists and performers who used light as either their medium or inspiration, showcasing creativity and innovation in illuminating ways. Over 500 people passed through the event and raised funds and awareness to support the 750 million people still living without electricity. Thank you to all of the sponsors, volunteers, artists, attendees and co-organizers. You made this possible! Read more details and see some amazing photos on our blog.
About us
Unite to Light believes that access to clean and affordable light and energy are critical to improving health, education and prosperity globally. As a not-for-profit 501(c)3 we manufacture and distribute efficient, durable, low cost solar lamps and solar chargers to people without access to electricity. Since 2011 we have delivered 125,000 solar lights to people in 78 countries. We focus on projects that help children learn to read and study at night, equip midwives with the tools they need to save lives, offer relief to those suffering from disasters and provide light and power to our neighbors experiencing homelessness.

Artist Highlight 🔆⚒️🧸 We had the wonderful opportunity to interview Birgit Leleu in her Santa Maria studio to discuss her piece “You Are My Sunshine” featured in this year’s Unite to Light the Night fundraiser + light art exhibition. You Are My Sunshine is a rotating mobile - like the ones that hang above cribs - consisting of 60 hand-crafted silver bears. 30 of the bears will be oxidized, while 30 remain at a high-shine silver to represent the fact that a woman dies giving birth every two minutes, bringing awareness to maternal mortality rates. Unite to Light works with United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and other organizations supporting midwives worldwide, as most deaths are preventable with access to reliable care and tools - including light!
