    Last week, EACOP, in partnership with TotalEnergies Uganda, Uganda National Oil Company Limited (UNOC) , CNOOC Uganda, and The African Centre for Media Excellence , hosted journalists from leading media houses for a three-day tour focused on our oil and gas projects in Uganda! Organized by the Petroleum Authority of Uganda , this initiative showcased EACOP's commitment to responsible development, safety, and community engagement. During the tour, journalists visited the #EACOP. At EACOP Pumping Station 1, journalists observed ongoing construction and learned about the critical infrastructure being built to support the pipeline's operation. The journalists also included visits to the Kingfisher Development Area and the Tilenga Projects, Through this tour, #EACOP aims to build transparency and collaboration, ensuring that the narrative surrounding Uganda's oil and gas development aligns with community interests.     𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐎𝐏 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐏𝐀𝐔 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐌𝐂𝐏𝐒𝟏) The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) team welcomed the Board of Directors from the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) to Main Camp and Pumping Station 1 (MCPS1) for a supervisory visit. The visit was an opportunity for the PAU board to gain first-hand insight into the progress of Uganda's oil and gas projects, focusing on the ongoing construction and development efforts of EACOP. Led by the PAU Board Chairperson, Ms. Lynda Biribonwa, the board members observed the advancements in the pipeline’s construction. Our Deputy Managing Director, Mr. John Bosco Habumugisha, guided the team through various on-site operations, highlighting milestones such as the stringing and welding of pipes at MCPS1. As of October 31 2024, over 1.8 kilometers of pipeline has been strung and welded. The PAU board's visit aligns with their oversight mandate, providing an in-depth understanding of the oil and gas development efforts in the Albertine Graben region. By witnessing the ongoing work at MCPS1, the board were able to directly assess the progress and strategic operations essential to achieving Uganda's energy goals. This hands-on experience strengthens the PAU’s capacity to oversee the sector and reinforces EACOP’s commitment to transparency and collaborative progress in Uganda’s oil and gas development.     Uganda has launched its Alliance for Climate Forestry Compensation Strategy at the UN Climate Summit (COP29) in Baku, aiming to tackle climate change. Part of the Alliance for Climate Resilience (ACR), this initiative focuses on promoting sustainable energy use and addressing challenges in energy access, affordability, and security. The strategy guides the development of carbon credit projects to offset emissions from Uganda’s energy sector, particularly from oil and gas projects under development. Energy Minister, Hon. Ruth Nankabirwa highlighted the need to balance energy development with environmental sustainability, stating that forest reserves will be used to offset emissions from these projects. #JustTransition #UgOilJourney #CreatingLastingValue
