  • Sometimes, you meet someone who just gets it. That's Dr. Joe Coughlin, who leads the MIT AgeLab - a true pioneer in improving how we support aging loved ones and their families. When someone like Joe recognizes what we're building at tendercare as both "technologically seamless and deeply passionate," it means everything to us. Thanks, Joe, for the kind words and for being such a champion of innovation that truly helps people care smarter for the people who matter most. #familycare #aging #innovation #technology #agetech

One of the unexpected joys of professional life is when a mentor or colleague becomes a friend. That was on my mind when I ran into Dr. Joe Coughlin at the Longevity Innovation Conference in DC this week. Joe is someone whose work has always inspired me. Through his leadership at the MIT AgeLab he’s been at the forefront of rethinking how we approach aging and caregiving—topics that are deeply personal to me and at the core of the work we’re doing today at tendercare Over time, our shared passion for improving the lives of caregivers and older adults turned a professional connection into something much deeper: a friendship built on mutual respect and a shared mission. But also, real care for each others families and an overwhelming sense of gratitude for working in the same space. Running into Joe reminded me that innovation isn’t just about big ideas or cutting-edge technology. It’s about our relationships with other people—the kind that challenge us, support us, and push us to think bigger. It’s these connections that remind me why we do what we do: to create a better, more connected future for everyone. To those of you lucky enough to have a “Joe” in your life—whether it’s a mentor, collaborator, or friend—don’t forget to take a moment and celebrate them. And to the many other incredible people whose friendships were nurtured or started this week (you know who you are!) thanks to the great convener Mary Furlong , thank you for making the journey so incredibly rewarding. #LongevityInnovation #Caregiving #Friendship #Leadership #Networking

We're excited to announce some big news: our evolution to tendercare! For us, the change of our name to tendercare reflects our mission and exactly what we strive to deliver: smart, compassionate support to help families care smarter for the people who matter most. It’s simple, heartfelt, and most importantly, easy to find when families need us (and, no more confusion with that dating app! 😉) tendercare comes at a crucial moment – by 2030, adults aged 65+ will outnumber children for the first time in U.S. history. Our AI-powered platform can help all families confidently navigate supporting loved ones with step-by-step guidance, smart organization tools, and community support. While our name evolves, our mission remains to stand beside anyone as they care for loved ones. Your stories have shaped tendercare, and we will continue to grow with your feedback. You've taught us what families truly need – like having critical emergency information at your fingertips, which inspired our one-tap Emergency Info pdf. Or the ability to track and care for multiple family members at once, which inspired unlimited family vaults. Stay tuned for new features to make family caregiving smoother, simpler, and better than ever. Thank you for believing in us, for trusting us, and for being part of this remarkable journey. Your support has given tendercare its true meaning, and we’re endlessly grateful. If you haven’t yet, download tendercare today to check us out. So, please share this message and this link with anyone you know who could use tendercare. #FamilyCare #FamilyCaregiver #Caregiver #Aging #HealthTech #Innovation #GivingTuesday #AlzheimersAwareness

  • At Tender, we believe caring for those who matter most should be about love, not logistics. Our founder & CEO Shauna Sweeney recently shared her story on Women to Watch about why she left her executive role at Meta to build technology that helps families support their loved ones: "I truly believe that we each play a role in not just living or existing in the world that we find ourselves in, but in really participating and shaping it and making it one that we can sign off on." Today, Tender is helping thousands of families get organized, stay prepared, and focus on what matters most - being present with the people they love. • So proud that Tender's Founder & CEO Shauna Sweeney is featured in Well+Good's powerful exploration of burnout in the Sandwich Generation - those supporting aging parents and children. The reality is clear: Nearly 1/4 of American adults manage family care responsibilities on multiple fronts while holding down jobs, and the unique challenges that can't be solved by simply stepping away. Shauna shares how her experience supporting her father while building a career inspired Tender's mission to help families, no matter the distance. One of Shauna's top tips? "Remember that you're doing your best in what can be a challenging situation," she says. "The smallest acts of self-care, especially when done regularly, can make a big difference in your experience." Every night Shauna Sweeney calls her dad, Mike, across the country in California to tell him she loves him. Sometimes on an extra good day, Mike says, “I love you, too.” Ten years ago, when Mike was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s, Shauna went from being his daughter to part friend, part assistant, and in so many ways, part parent. As her Dad struggled with losing his independence, Shauna struggled with caregiving from nearly 3,000 miles away. A veteran in big tech, she hacked together solutions to help coordinate care from afar, eventually getting the courage to leave her job and dedicate her life to finding tech solutions to help caregivers along the Alzheimer's and dementia journey. “When done right, technology can help preserve dignity and enable better care by empowering and supporting family caregivers like me. As we navigate the intricate dance of caring for our parents with Alzheimer's, our embrace of technology not only can lighten the journey but also help us strengthen our deepest bonds.“ Like many family caregivers, Shauna has learned to wear many hats. But today Shauna is simply a loving daughter. This #FathersDay, let’s celebrate the bond between fathers and their children, the strength it takes to navigate this journey together, and the great things it can inspire. #ENDALZ
