Community of action researchers and reflective practitioners who support sustainability transformations
About us
We are a generative space and a catalyzing force for sustainability research and practice, knowledge creation and action. Our global community of transformation “pracademics” (both practitioner and researcher) is responding to a growing recognition that we need new approaches to address climate change and other existential threats to social-ecological systems. We strive to act as a bridge for connecting people who is working to catalyze transformations across different sustainability-related domains (e.g. water, energy, food, biodiversity), siloed disciplines and fields, places and cultures, and institutional settings like academia, government, NGOs, private sector. Over the past 10 years, we have organized conferences in Oslo, Stockholm, Dundee, Santiago, online in 2021, and in Sydney, Prague, Maine, and online in 2023.

🚨 The Transformative Change Assessment goes live today in less than 2 hours! 🔗 Watch the live report launch here: https://lnkd.in/dMAFY63M This groundbreaking report by IPBES presents actionable solutions to halt biodiversity loss while exploring the broader systemic challenges that hold us back from building equitable and sustainable futures. It's a call to shift how we think about transformations—not just incremental fixes, but bold, collective shifts across governance, economies, and societies. 💡And yesterday, the IPBES Nexus Report was released, highlighting the interconnectedness of environmental, social, and economic challenges—reminding us that solutions cannot succeed in isolation. 🌍 📄 Get the Nexus Report summary here: https://lnkd.in/dbw5Xhgi #TransformativeChange #TransformativeChangeAssessment #Sustainability #Biodiversity #IPBES #IPBES11

🌊 New Paper: Overcoming lock-in of science-policy responses to reef heating. Marine heating—long-term, climate-induced ocean warming—is devastating reef ecosystems and the communities that depend on them. In their latest paper, Tiffany Morrison and colleagues critique the narrow focus of current science-policy solutions, which often emphasize local adaptations while overlooking deeper structural drivers. The authors call for an expanded policy agenda that tackles root causes and promotes broader, more effective, and just solutions to protect reefs and vulnerable communities. 📖 Read the full article to explore their vision for a transformative approach to reef science and policy- https://lnkd.in/djTEA4kn #CoralReefs #Governance #Vulnerability #OceanAdaptation #TropicalCoasts #ClimateChange #OceanWarming
