A hearing on Capitol Hill sponsored by Jewish Federations of North America and The Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law shed light on the growing problem of discrimination and bias against Jews in the health care sector, including medical schools and major hospital centers. "This isn't the first time in the history of our country that the Jewish community has experienced discrimination in medical care," said Jewish Federations of North America President and CEO Eric D. Fingerhut.

Jewish Federations of North America are deeply grateful to both the House and the Senate for passing the National Defense Authorization Act. This bill garnered strong bipartisan support in both chambers, and included numerous pro-Israel provisions, including $500 million in annual funding for missile defense systems, such as Iron Dome. This missile defense funding is critical to ensuring Israelis of all backgrounds remain safe and secure in the face of growing threats. This past year, we have seen firsthand just how important missile defense systems like Iron Dome are, underscoring just how crucial this funding is. Jewish Federations are thrilled to see this funding pass and thanks House and Senate leaders and appropriators for standing with our ally, Israel.

Since the start of the war, Israel has sent over 280,000 tons of aid into Gaza – only to have it looted by armed gangs. Israel says the teams delivering aid are being attacked by Hamas. But instead of calling on Hamas to prioritize the needs of civilians, the UN continues to blame Israel for these problems. What’s wrong with this picture?

We need your help: The Antisemitism Awareness Act (AAA) is within reach, and we need to send a strong message to make sure it passes before the 118th Congress ends. Please take a moment to send a message to Senate Leadership and ask them to make sure the AAA is included in any final bill and is enacted into law: https://ow.ly/VX7w50Uq2vr

Jewish Federations of North America join Anti-Defamation League, American Jewish Committee (AJC), and Prizmah in expressing our “deep concern” about remarks at a recent conference of the National Association of Independent Schools where several speakers used their time to accuse Israel of genocide and used extreme, biased anti-Israel rhetoric, including downplaying the Hamas terror attack on Oct. 7, 2023. “Any professor that celebrates Oct. 7 and lifts up the actions of Hamas as a good thing should be fired. It’s untenable what’s been happening on our college campuses.” Tune in to the latest episode of “The Glue, with Eric Fingerhut” to hear more from Senator Kirsten E. Gillibrand and her full conversation with Pulitzer-prize winning commentator George Will at the 2024 General Assembly: https://ow.ly/25ra50UphPt
