Help us find a replacement for our incredible intern Mya S. (who will be joining us as a permanent team member)! We're searching for a spring intern. The role pays $17/hr and they also get to join our three week fellowship orientation program, and learn about legislative process, personal and committee office org charts, memo and oversight letter writing, and lots more! This is a hybrid role-- must be in DC-- and we're in the office (at the beautiful New America facilities) 2x / week. Apply through our website: https://lnkd.in/egfb-Y86
Programs Intern at TechCongress | Computer Science, Ethics, and Society at Georgetown | Point BIPOC Scholar
I’ve had the absolute privilege of working with TechCongress for five months now, and wanted to share that they’re hiring a Programs Intern for the upcoming Spring Semester! Though my interests lie at the intersection of technology and policy, I admit that I came in not knowing much about policymaking beyond the basics. During my time here, I’ve learned so much about Congressional procedure through watching hearings on the Hill, attending tech policy events around D.C., and tracking bills–many of which our remarkable fellows and alumni have worked on–as they move through committee markups. I also had the opportunity to write about a tech policy event I attended (available on the TechCongress website)! I’ve come to understand so much more about the state of tech policy and the many stakeholders involved in the policymaking process, as well as the work that goes into managing programs and supporting our amazing fellows. TechCongress aims to transform the government’s relationship with the tech industry, and the all-stars on the team (Travis Moore, Grace McKinney, Aleena Khan, Mallory Strawn, and Christina You) all play a part in making this mission a reality. I cannot stress enough how amazing they are, and I attribute much of my growth over these past 5 months to their guidance and never-ending support. From day one, I was given the space and trust to scope out and execute new projects and initiatives (with a very exciting project finishing soon!). I even moderated a panel for the first time–huge shoutout to Aleena and Grace for encouraging me to do it in the first place. If TechCongress’s mission resonates with you, please apply to the Programs Intern position! Applications are open on a rolling basis, with priority given to applications submitted before November 22nd.

Congrats to alum Jasmine M. for sharing her wisdom at AnitaB.org's Grace Hopper celebration this year!
Multi-Award-Winning Technologist👥Advisor🎙️Public Speaker & Emerging Scientist📚Colin Powell Fellow🌊’25 BIMS Tidal Wave Fellow🌏Impacting 100K+ Globally🌐STEM Coalition-Builder Bridging Tech Security, Policy & Science
Today at the AnitaB.org Grace Hopper Celebration, I presented the 7 A’s framework—a set of personal baselines that individuals can use to drive change and build a more equitable, secure, and fair future across any industry. Cyber professional to scientist?!? Absolutely! 💪 I’m taking the skills I’ve honed in cyber, policy, and project management and diving fully into a new world as a fellow. There are no limits to what we can learn and how hard we can go for our dreams! Using the 7 A’s framework, I’m ready to tackle critical issues in marine science, policy, and critical infrastructure on areas such as: 🪼 Awareness: Highlight the importance of recognizing the interconnectedness between cybersecurity, IT/OT security, and marine science in safeguarding coastal ecosystems. 🪸Accessibility: Focus on making secure technology and tools available to marine researchers, ensuring they have the resources to collect and share reliable information globally. 🪼Accountability: Emphasize securing systems that support marine research, not just to protect data but to uphold ethical standards and ensure research is conducted with integrity. 🪸Adaptability: Discuss how AI and cybersecurity technologies must evolve alongside changing environmental conditions to support resilient marine operations. 🪼Action: Stress the need for proactive measures in securing maritime infrastructure, emphasizing real-world applications of OT security to protect coastal communities. 🪸Advocacy: Advocate for stronger collaborations across disciplines, highlighting the role of technologists and scientists in pushing for resilient marine policies and infrastructure. 🪼Authenticity: Focus on building authentic collaborations between tech experts and marine scientists, fostering trust and ensuring the longevity of joint efforts to protect the ocean. 🪸Agency: Empower individuals and communities to take ownership of ocean protection efforts, giving them the tools and knowledge to actively shape the future of marine conservation. #BIMSTidalWave #OTSecurity #OpenSource #MaritimeResilience #OceanConservation #ClimateAdaptation #Blackscientist #NOAA #NatGeo #Discovery #cyberawarenessmonth #GHC24 #womeninSTEM
