All Tech Is Human
Think Tanks
Together, we work to solve tech and society’s thorniest issues.
About us
All Tech Is Human is building a better approach for tackling thorny tech & society issues that surface values, tensions, trade-offs, and best practices. Our non-profit organization does this through collective understanding, involvement, and action around our three key workstreams of community-building, education, and careers. We have created a unique agnostic network that unites stakeholders across civil society, government, industry, and academia. This directly leads to a more cohesive Responsible Tech ecosystem promoting knowledge-sharing and collaboration, illuminates pathways for a diverse range of backgrounds to participate, and is agile enough to move at the speed of tech. Our secret sauce is our ability to involve not only subject matter experts and influential change agents, but also a broad mixture of individuals typically left out of the process. This provides the ability to fully understand the impact of technology, diagnose its causes and potential pathways for improvement, and affect various levers of change related to policy, education, and workforce makeup of the nascent Responsible Tech ecosystem. Popular programs for All Tech Is Human include our Slack community of over 10k members across 100 countries, regular in-person gatherings (NYC, DC, SF, London), a large mentorship program, regular livestream series, and a popular Responsible Tech Job Board with a related talent pool of thousands, and our influential Responsible Tech Guide. Key areas of focus include Responsible AI, Trust & Safety, and Public Interest Technology. Together, we tackle the world’s thorniest tech & society issues and co-create a tech future aligned with the public interest. What does the future hold for fields like Public Interest Technology, Responsible AI, and Trust & Safety? Deb Donig, our Siegel Family Endowment Research Fellow, argues that while it is impossible to predict precise consequences, it is crucial to find a positive pathway forward. "The path forward lies not in predicting the future, but in actively shaping it through strategic action, coalition building, and unwavering commitment to responsible technology development that serves human values and protects user interests, regardless of the regulatory environment." In this timely piece, she explores the what the tech industry, donors, and community at large can do to help maintain a robust Responsible Tech ecosystem. #AllTechIsHuman #ResponsibleTech #PublicInterestTechnology https://lnkd.in/evdqZ4TJ

All Tech Is Human reposted this
I am thrilled to be able to share that I have been selected as the 2024-2026 Siegel Family Endowment research fellow. For the next two years, I will be working with All Tech Is Human to research and write about the emergence and evolution of a responsible technology workforce. Beyond describing the workforce itself, it is my hope that in writing and thinking about it, I also help to foster the conditions, the pipelines, and the education to cultivate this profession, and to help craft a new vision for technological culture and production that centers human values. I am grateful to Siegel Family Endowment and All Tech is Human for this opportunity, and thrilled to work with David Ryan Polgar, Rebekah Tweed, Sandra Khalil, Alexandra Feldhausen, Sarah Welsh, PhD, Matthew Skomarovsky, Sherine Kazim, the whole ATIH community, and the 2024 incoming Siegel Fellow cohort, led by Madison Snider, Ph.D.. I could not ask for better partners in this work, and I'm excited to get going!

All Tech Is Human was honored to be a partner with Marketplace Risk for their recent Global Summit in London. Sandra Khalil from our team put together a stellar panel, Building the Future: Cultivating the Next Generation of Trust & Safety Leaders. The panelists delved into the professionalization of the trust and safety field, and the growing role of civil society in shaping the next generation of professionals in the space. From Left to Right: Panelists Tess Buckley, Megha M., Aditi Udayabhaskar, and Darshini Santhanam. Joined by Heena Carahaa, techUK, on the far right. Helping support the next generation of Trust & Safety leaders is a major component of our work at All Tech Is Human, as a strong workforce can help us tackle the world's thorniest tech & society issues. #AllTechIsHuman #TrustAndSafety #ResponsibleTech

Is Tech the new religion?! We recently held a fireside chat between Greg Epstein (Humanist Chaplain at Harvard and MIT) and Julia Angwin (Founder & CEO of Proof News, NYT Contributing Opinion Writer). Greg is the author of the recently-released Tech Agnostic: How Technology Became the World's Most Powerful Religion, and Why It Desperately Needs a Reformation. This discussion happened at our Responsible Tech Mixer + Author Series held last Thursday in Manhattan. #AllTechIsHuman #ResponsibleTech #TechAgnostic https://lnkd.in/eaCQMGPc
