Whether it's preparing for winter or blending into the rich colors of fall, foxes remind us to embrace change and find beauty in every shift. With the #equinox coming up on Sunday, a particular island #fox we helped rescue earlier this year comes to mind! While surveying foxes on San Nicolas Island, the most remote of California’s Channel Islands and part of Naval Base Ventura County, our team found a brave little island fox pup with a serious compound fracture in her rear leg. Thanks to quick action and teamwork between a local vet, the Navy’s island fox manager, and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the pup got special permission to leave the island for expert care. After recovering at Santa Barbara Zoo, she was transferred to The Living Desert Zoo in Palm Springs where she is thriving in her new habitat with a companion. Our Fort Collins, Colorado office recently celebrated its 10th anniversary! The team started the festivities with giving back at the Larimer County Food Bank, and then everyone gathered for a party at Paul Burnett's house, where the office started. After some food and backyard fun, the group ventured to a local music venue. Established in 2014, our Fort Collins office supports clients across a diverse array of markets and always strives to make SWCA the best workplace and industry leader in sustainability. Our employee-owners are proud to have accomplished growth and financial success these past ten years thanks to everyone’s dedication and hard work. A huge thank you to our amazing Fort Collins team and clients for making the past decade an outstanding one! #SWCAGivesBack #OneSWCA https://lnkd.in/g7WnphCP

The recent ESA Section 7 regulation changes now allow compensatory #mitigation as a measure to offset adverse impacts on #endangered species, adding a new layer of complexity for projects with federal involvement. Amanda Glen, senior natural resources #technical director, will be presenting on the impact of these changes for #wildlife in project #planning at the Special Institute on Protected Wildlife and Project Development, October 3-4. If you can’t attend, don’t worry – you can still dive deeper into this topic by reading the article Amanda wrote on our blog. #EnvironmentalPlanning

Cape Ann, Massachusetts, known for its charming harbors and historic seaports, might not seem like a #wildfire hotspot... but that’s changing. As drought conditions heighten wildfire risk, SWCA partnered with local leaders to develop the region’s first-ever Community Wildfire Protection Plan (#CWPP). Through expert analysis and community collaboration, our wildfire #planning services empowered the Cape Ann community to mitigate #fire risk and protect their future. Our experts, Victoria Amato and Arianna Porter, are looking forward to engaging on important wildfire planning topics at the upcoming Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy Workshop in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
