  • Cranbrook Institute of Science is in its Archimedes Era 💥 This fall, the Institute opened its latest traveling exhibit, “The Science of Archimedes” which brings to life the discoveries in mathematics, engineering, and physics made by this profoundly influential scientist. The exhibit has been expertly curated to allow visitors to explore, enjoy, and understand the profound impact Archimedes has had on shaping our modern world. It includes several interactive experiments based on many of Archimedes’ most impactful discoveries. In this week’s The Detroit News article about the exhibit, Michael Stafford, the Susan Flint Cooper Director of Cranbrook Institute of Science shared, "Archimedes provided the building blocks and the foundational concepts upon which our modern technological world is built." He emphasized that the exhibit offers a perfect opportunity for people of all ages to explore hands-on, foundational principles in mathematics and science. Interested in visiting the exhibit? The Institute is featuring The Science of Archimedes through June, 1, 2025 ✨ Learn more! https://lnkd.in/eB92nB26 Thank you, Erica Hobbs for sharing this story! #SirenStrategy #MediaRelations #Communication #StrategicCommunication #PublicRelations #EarnedMedia #ClientNews #CranbrookInstituteOfScience #CIS #Archimedes #Museum #MetroDetroit #Michigan

  • With the rise of Bluesky Social and the transformation of X, there’s been a lot of chatter lately about how social media channels are changing. It’s causing some to ask: are we witnessing an unprecedented metamorphosis of social media? 🦋 The evolution of social media is nothing new. In fact, it’s old. As old as MySpace and Tumblr. Of course, something always drives this evolution—a new competitor, offering, feature, or other development—that forces social media platforms to change or risk fading out. We’re currently seeing this evolution happen in real-time with X, formerly known as Twitter. In the past month, X users are fleeing the platform, finding a new digital home on Bluesky and making a new name for themselves: X-pats. With a similar look and feel to X, Bluesky offers its new 2.5 million users the opportunity to share short posts, images, and videos. The reasons behind this migration are multifaceted, including claims of better moderation, a stronger community, greater comfort with ownership, and more. I guess you could say some people think the grass is greener on Bluesky. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Interestingly, while this shift might surprise X’s board, it could be even more startling for the team behind Threads, Meta’s platform. Despite Threads’ close ties to Facebook and Instagram, and its head start in the market, it hasn’t captured the same momentum. Why? We’re not quite sure. While we’re constantly trying to understand the algorithm, we’re still not the engineers behind it. What we do know is this: social media is constantly evolving. As public relations and communications professionals, our role is to guide clients toward platforms and strategies that align with their goals and resonate with their audiences. Even when it seems like everyone is jumping on a new platform, we stay focused on leading with strategy to determine what truly works for their communication needs. Most likely, X won’t disappear overnight, but it's clear that new tools are emerging in the market, offering fresh opportunities and alternatives. We guide our clients with expertise, leading them towards success. We help navigate them through the evolution of shared and social media, ensuring they can effectively communicate with their audiences on the platforms they use. That’s what we do. One thing’s for sure: the only constant in social media is change and adaptability is essential. #SirenStrategy #MediaRelations #Communication #StrategicCommunication #PublicRelations #EarnedMedia #X #BlueSky #SocialMedia #Threads #SocialMediaStrategy #SocialMediaMarketing

  • Trust in the power of conversation to create strong communities 🤝 Earlier this week, we joined forces with members of the Marquette community to co-lead a meaningful conversation about inclusivity and belonging in our city. In partnership with Innovate Marquette SmartZone, the City of Marquette Arts & Culture, and Stone Hearth Consulting, we created an open space for community members to share their experiences, listen to others, and reflect on how we can foster a greater sense of belonging for all. The result? People showed up with curiosity and open minds. They shared their experiences, perspectives, and challenges. We listened to each other. We got to understand each other better. We saw what makes this community special and where there’s work that needs to be done. All of this is crucial to creating a community where everyone feels they belong–including those currently a part of it and those who may join in the future. This isn’t the first time we’ve reached out to hear directly from the community—and it won’t be the last. Together, Innovate Marquette SmartZone and the City of Marquette Arts & Culture have made a shared commitment: meaningful change begins and ends with community involvement. Strategic communication is key to making that commitment a reality. It’s been a privilege to support our partners in connecting with the community—reaching out, listening deeply, and learning together. We’re proud to help lay the groundwork for even more meaningful conversations and collective growth in the future. 🫶 #SirenStrategy #MediaRelations #Communication #StrategicCommunication #PublicRelations #EarnedMedia #ClientNews #Community #ListeningSession #Michigan #Marquette #UpperPeninsula

Do you know what great startup ecosystems and Sirens have in common? 🤔 You can find both on either side of the bridge 🤝 Michigan is home to some of the fastest growing startup ecosystems in the nation – #Detroit was reported the 2nd fastest growing in the world – and the opportunities they present hold great potential to drive growth and create a substantial impact for our state. What do they look like? As anyone in the startup world knows, there’s no such thing as a one-size-fits-all approach – circumstances, opportunities, and resources can all vary greatly depending on where you are. We’ve seen this firsthand through our support of the #MetroDetroit startup ecosystem, with events like Detroit Startup Week and Michigan Tech Week contributing to the city’s vibrant innovation landscape and helping the community gain recognition for the ingenuity and rapid development taking shape. The #UpperPeninsula has been growing a startup ecosystem of its own in recent years, too. It’s been a privilege to witness and amplify the work happening by so many talented partners to create a strong ecosystem that fits the circumstances and needs of the community. This has also enabled us to expand our support by highlighting some of the incredible startups emerging from the region that are making a significant impact. Introducing a startup for the first time is a crucial opportunity to showcase who they are and what they stand for, helping them to establish a clear identity and leverage communication as a powerful tool for growth. More than twelve years ago Siren started on its own startup journey. As we've grown and evolved, we're grateful that this path has led us to vibrant ecosystems where we can support startups and their communities as they pursue their unique visions. 🌟 #SirenStrategy #MediaRelations #Communication #StrategicCommunication #PublicRelations #PR #EarnedMedia #Startup #Ecosystem #EconomicDevelopment #Entrepreneurship #Entrepreneurial #Journey #Michigan

We’ve recently added some new all-stars to our client roster!  ⭐️ Kicking things off is Invivus: Moldmap, a startup based in Marquette whose mission is to help people easily locate spaces free from mold, fragrances, VOCs, and other airborne irritants. Founded by Justin Carlson, CEO of Invivus Technologies, Moldmap is designed to help individuals with environmental sensitivities, chronic illnesses, allergies, or anyone who is health-conscious about the air they breathe. Next, we have Partridge Creek Compost, an Ishpeming-based nonprofit offering a subscription-based composting pickup service for local residents and businesses. Their mission is to on reduce food waste going to the landfill, enhance soil health in the county, and educate our community about the environmental and social benefits of composting. Since their inception, they have already diverted over one million million pounds of food waste! Then, we have the Sustainability-Linked Agricultural Finance project, an innovative initiative led by the University of Michigan aimed at protecting our Great Lakes through carbon-financing. In collaboration with fintech partners, agricultural stakeholders, and various foundations, this project reimagines sustainable agriculture to benefit farmers, financial institutions, and communities. Last, but certainly not least, is Syncurrent, a Marquette-based AI technology founded by Dhruv C. Patel and Matthew J.. Syncurrent is bridging the funding access gap for tribal nations and rural communities, by connecting them with customized federal, state, and philanthropic funding opportunities, empowering these communities to pursue vital investments with ease. As we’ve come to know these folks, it’s clear that they’re all uniquely dedicated to carrying out their vision and creating a positive impact far beyond themselves. We’re excited for the opportunity to illuminate their work for others to realize their hard work and impact 🌟 #SirenStrategy #MediaRelations #Communication #StrategicCommunication #PublicRelations #PR #EarnedMedia #NewClients #Growing #Michigan #Clients #EconomicDevelopment #Sustainability #Health #Funding #UpperPeninsula #Startups

At Siren, gaining a deep understanding of our clients, their goals, and audiences is a fundamental part of our recipe for success 🤌 But what’s a key ingredient of this? It happens early on in our partnerships with our discovery session. Our discovery sessions bring together key individuals essential to our clients and their success to learn about what sets them apart, who needs to hear from them, and what they are working toward. Holding discovery early on in our partnership allows us to create a strategy that has the greatest impact and meet goals that effectively make their organization stronger. Discovery sessions are not only a valuable learning experience for us, but we've consistently heard from our clients – past and present – that these sessions serve as significant learning opportunities for them as well. Not to mention, these sessions can also re-ignite the fire for their team to keep pushing toward goals. Earlier this month, we had the opportunity to lead another successful discovery session with folks at Partridge Creek Compost, which was insightful for everyone in the room. 💡 Gaining a deep understanding of our clients for communication strategy starts with discovery, but it doesn’t end there. It’s always an ongoing priority for us as we honor our values of relationship building and evolution. It’s why we make a point to stay up to date on what’s going on in our clients’ organizations as well as the industries they work in. Because when our clients work with us, we make our team an extension of their own. After all, is the perfect recipe ever really complete? 😉 #SirenStrategy #MediaRelations #Communication #StrategicCommunication #PublicRelations #PR #EarnedMedia #Strategy #Discovery #ClientRelations #Strategy

Cranbrook Institute of Science’s annual Halloween Science event was a buzzing good time… 🪲 And we previewed the event with our friends at WJBK-TV FOX 2 Detroit by giving them a little taste of the fun 😋 Last week, our team member Trysten Loos joined the Fox 2 studio crew for a sneak peek of the Institute’s fan favorite fall event – with crickets and mealworms on the menu! When topics like the election dominate the media cycle, gaining visibility for our clients requires creative strategy. Capturing attention often means embracing the unconventional with unique storytelling and fun segment packaging. And when it comes to getting the team to agree to eating bugs on air, we led with demonstrating it as the perfect recipe for getting back at a coworker. 😈 As it turns out, they're more tasty than you’d expect– a real trick and a treat! #SirenStrategy #MediaRelations #Communication #StrategicCommunication #PublicRelations #PR #EarnedMedia #ClientNews #MetroDetroit #Detroit #CranbrookInstituteofScience #Halloween #Storytelling
