Transforming the quality of life for people with special needs through therapeutic horsemanship.
About us
SIRE Therapeutic Horsemanship provides a community where horses help people with disabilities and challenges to live their best life. A nonprofit organization established locally in 1983, SIRE is recognized by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International as a Premier Accredited Center and serves almost 300 riders in weekly lesson programs. At two Houston-area facilities—in Fort Bend and Spring, Texas—SIRE owns and maintains more than 30 specially trained horses and conducts specialized instructor training. The most common diagnosis for riders served is autism. Although riders’ ages range from three years to senior citizens, the greatest percentage of riders are children. SIRE also provides equine-assisted learning programs to children-at-risk and veterans.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out to check on the herd and facilities. We have finally been able to enter the properties and review the damage. We are happy to report the horses are doing great at both locations. The Spring facility has numerous large limbs and trees down across the property, fence damage, a small building needing repair, and is without power. The Fort Bend facility also has many large limbs and trees down, the arena is flooded, and fence damage too. Fortunately, buildings and barns did not incur any damage and they had power restored last night. Beginning tomorrow, if you can spare an hour or two, Fort Bend is ready to have extra hands and feet to help move debris. If you are available tomorrow through the weekend, they could use your help. Please contact Brooke via email at [email protected]. Once power is restored at Spring, we will send an update about help at that facility. If you would be interested in volunteering to help clear debris at Spring, please contact Julia via email at [email protected] for Spring. #HurricaneBeryl #Volunteering #HurricaneRecovery

It's Flag Day! Did you know that on June 14, 1777, the Second Continental Congress took a break from writing the Articles of Confederation and passed a resolution stating that “the flag of the United States be 13 stripes, alternate red and white,” and that “the union be 13 stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation.” Over 100 years later, in 1916, President Woodrow Wilson marked the anniversary of that decree by officially establishing June 14 as Flag Day. Happy Flag Day! Here are a few more fun facts https://lnkd.in/dDQGemk... #americanflag #veterans

We are super excited to be hosting our SIRE Under the Stars benefit this year on Friday, May 3 at River Oaks Country Club. This year we are celebrating and raising funds for our equine-assisted programs that serve veterans seeking to overcome a variety of emotional and physical challenges. All proceeds raised through this event will support current and future equine-assisted programs specifically servicing veterans. If you would like to help us expand these programs, please click the link Registration Options (donorperfect.net). Thank you! #veterans #equine #therapeutic #ptsd #horses #houston

Thank you Traxero for taking the time to give back and in such a grand way. Your donation of time an energy made a significant impact and we are truly grateful.
https://sire-htec.org/ On Friday, March 22nd, a group of Traxerians came together for our TRAXERO Gives Back TexLa event. Months of planning culminated in a truly rewarding opportunity to volunteer our time and efforts at the SIRE-Therapeutic Horsemanship facility in Spring, Texas. Our activities included - cleaning and organizing the offices, classroom, and storage rooms, mucking out the stables and filling them with clean pine shavings for the horses, and adding new material to the sensory trail boxes. Our team is beyond grateful for the chance to give back to the community. 🧡
