Did you know #TRICARE's Autism Care Demonstration (#ACD) program has been ongoing for 10 years? And the Department of Defense (#DoD) has yet to determine if #ABA services meet their internal standards to determine if ABA services can be covered as a medical service. The DoD says it needs more time to answer this question which is why the ACD program was extended to December 2028. While the DoD is still trying to answer this question all 50 states have mandated coverage of ABA services as a basic medical benefit. The VA has recognized that ABA services are evidenced based and cover ABA as a basic benefit under CHAMPVA. And the Federal Employees Health Benefit mandates all insurance carriers under this plan cover ABA services as a basic benefit due to the high level of evidence in the treatment of #autism. Some days it feels like we have been advocating for 84 years to receive equitable autism services that are offered to our civilian counterparts. But we won't stop until quality ABA services are secured as a basic medical benefit for all TRICARE beneficiaries. #maa #missionalphadvocacy #efmp #military #nevergiveup
