During fiscal year 2024, Second Harvest Food Bank faced growing challenges as food insecurity in Orange County outpaced the rest of California and the U.S., driven by high costs of food, fuel and housing. While food insecurity was more widespread during COVID, the current rate has now reached its highest point in the past three years! Thanks to the unwavering support of our donors, volunteers and partners, we’ve continued to adapt and innovate, providing fresh, nutritious food to more people. Initiatives like intentional food sourcing, 100% delivery to partners, client choice models and a zero waste program have set new standards in addressing food insecurity. Together, we are addressing the urgent needs of our community while building a brighter future. Your support makes this possible—thank you. 💚 Take a closer look at the FY2024 Annual Report: https://heyor.ca/zQ768s. #WeFeedOC #SecondHarvestOC #FoodBank #OrangeCounty

This holiday season, food banks are working hard to ensure everyone has access to nutritious food. But Congress must also do their job. Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County joins our national Feeding America food bank partners in calling for Congress to pass a bipartisan Farm Bill that protects and strengthens the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and doubles funding for The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP). For every ONE meal provided by a food bank, SNAP provides NINE. Food banks alone simply cannot meet the scale of hunger in our communities. And TEFAP has become more crucial in recent years as inflation and rising food prices leave families struggling to put food on their tables. We need Congress to pass a #FarmBill that doubles investments in #TEFAP and strengthens #SNAP to safeguard families' access to the nutritious food they need to thrive. A huge thank you to Walmart for the extraordinary gift and for sharing our vision of an Orange County with food and nutritional security for all. Thanks to this grant, we were able to cover truck and van fees as well as maintenance and gas for four of our partners, ensuring their operations ran smoothly. Additionally, five of our partners could hire new team members to strengthen their Grocery Rescue programs! This grant also gave us the opportunity to create bilingual training videos for our partners to use to help train their volunteers on safe food transportation and handling. #WeFeedOC #SecondHarvestOC #FoodBank #OrangeCounty
