Blanca Cruz lined up in the cold at 5 a.m. to get food for her family. She calls the support a blessing, saying: "We're a big family, and things are expensive, and they're getting even more expensive. I'm very grateful for this help." This holiday season, you can bring hope to families like Blanca’s. Through the generosity of the Herb Alpert Foundation, your gift will be DOUBLED—up to $100,000! That means every $1 helps provide 8 meals for families in Los Angeles County. Make your gift before Dec. 21 to double your impact and feed hope. 💛 Donate today: https://lnkd.in/gKUdEnUY #GivingBack #HungerRelief #DoubleYourImpact

The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank hosted the 22nd Annual Season for Sharing at the Omni Hotel in LA. This event highlighted individuals and organizations' invaluable contributions to addressing food insecurity across Los Angeles County. We recognized Amazon with the Community Partner Award for their continued generosity, including $472,000 in donations and critical food deliveries during the pandemic. Becky Lopez, recipient of the Tony Collier Award, was honored for her 25+ years of compassionate service at Door of Hope Ministries, where she uplifts neighbors with dignity and respect. The Community Spirit Award went to Ephesus SDA Church, whose work supporting South LA residents with food, hot meals, and essential services has been life-changing. Sherm Telleen received the Fighting Hunger, Giving Hope Award for his decades of leadership, which have helped provide millions of meals and drive the Food Bank's growth. This year’s Dennis Winston Memorial Leadership Award recipient went to Robert Perille. This award goes to an individual for their significant contributions to honor the legacy of dedicated supporter and former Board Chairman Dennis Winston. Lastly, La Salle College Preparatory School was recognized with the Partners Making a Difference Award for inspiring the next generation to embrace volunteerism and contributing countless service hours to the Food Bank. These honorees exemplify the collaboration and dedication needed to fight hunger and build stronger communities. Together, we're creating a brighter, more food-secure future. Scott and Lisa Nelson exemplify the power of combining hands-on service with strategic philanthropy. As dedicated Los Angeles Regional Food Bank supporters, they've donated their time and financial resources to fight hunger in LA County. Their latest step included leveraging their IRA through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) to make an even more significant impact. By donating directly from their IRA, the Nelsons avoid taxes on required minimum distributions, ensuring that 100% of their contribution goes toward feeding our neighbors. Lisa explains, “It's incredibly easy—you can set it up online, and the donation goes straight to the Food Bank. It's a simple way to make a big difference." Their story highlights how financial planning and passion for the mission can transform lives. If you're over 70½ and considering a charitable IRA donation, learn more about this impactful giving option at https://lnkd.in/gxk_JmHK. The holidays are a time to come together, but nutrition insecurity casts a shadow over the season for many families in LA County. Thanks to the LA Regional Food Bank and our partner agencies like Sowing Seeds for Life, families like Blanca's can celebrate with a meal this year. Blanca, an elderly food pantry participant in Pomona, will join her family with something special on the table—made possible by our community and partners' support. But food insecurity doesn't end after the holidays. Let's ensure that every family has food on the table year-round.
