📣 SEASTORIA is pleased to announce that we are joining the Nature Positive Forum! 🌿 Why Nature-Positivity Matters to SEASTORIA: While more than 50% of global GDP relies on #nature, the world has witnessed a 68% decline in wildlife populations since 1970, and much of the most at-risk #biodiversity is protected by #Indigenous people. Coming from #islands, some of the world’s greatest biodiversity hotspots, biodiversity is an embodied understanding for us. Through this ancestral interconnection with and interdependence on the natural world, we see the invaluable medicinal, livelihood, and cultural importance of all of the species we share this planet with. Ultimately, biodiversity reminds us how everyone and everything has a vital role to play. 🌱 What is Nature-Positive? #NaturePositive is a global societal goal defined as ‘Halt and Reverse Nature Loss by 2030 on a 2020 baseline, and achieve full recovery by 2050’. A continued loss of nature threatens not only over half the global GDP but, more importantly, human lives and wellbeing, with the poorest and most vulnerable hit first and hardest. "Nature positive is not a slogan – it is an ambitious goal and should not be used to imply something is green or nature-friendly. It refers to measurable outcomes that contribute to halting and #reversingnatureloss with significant societal benefits."
