We keep families with sick children together and near the care and resources they need. Since 1983, RMHC Charleston has been a “Home-away-from-home” where families stay while their children undergo extensive medical treatment. Here, parents and children lead a life as normal as possible during traumatic times without the financial burden of costly hotel, meal, and travel expenses. Our home offers these families comfortable beds, hot meals, a caring staff, and a four-legged friend - Gardy, all just steps from the hospital. We believe that when a child is in time of greatest need, families and communities can come together to create solutions, ultimately changing a child’s life forever.

What a night with the South Carolina Stingrays! 🏒 From connecting with fans at our table to being in the tunnels for the fan experience with the players to receiving a generous donation check on the jumbotron, the evening was full of heartwarming moments. Meet Walker - our star of this year's Lights of Love campaign! Walker was born in April 2023 with Down Syndrome. What followed was a whirlwind of medical battles and after 52 days in their local NICU, he was transported to MUSC Children’s Health for open heart surgery. During this time, his parents found a beacon of light at RMHC Charleston. "Although our story might seem unique, such challenges can happen to anyone. Our experience has underscored the importance of supporting incredible charities like RMHC Charleston, even if they don't directly impact you or your loved ones at the moment." - Laura and John, Walker's Parents Today, Walker is thriving! He recently participated in his first Buddy Walk, an event celebrating individuals with Down Syndrome while promoting inclusion and awareness. Jasy was unexpectedly diagnosed in October 2020 with End State Kidney Failure during the COVID pandemic. Jasy’s family stayed at RMHC Charleston for almost two months while Jasy was in the PICU at MUSC Children's Health. “We were allowed to stay in Room 209 this whole time. RMHC Charleston meant more to us than they will ever know. They were there for us when our whole world was falling apart.” - Shannon, Jasy’s Mother ❤️ Yesterday, Jasy celebrated her 3 kidney anniversary. She is a healthy, 18-year-old looking forward to pursuing a career as a pediatric nurse helping other children facing medical uncertainties.
