Dr. Gladis Zinati, will be presenting at COTA's Annual Organic Summit in Ottawa this Monday, November 18th! She’ll share insights from the Vegetable Systems Trial! The Vegetable System Trial analyzes five crops representing tubers, fruits and vegetables grown side-by-side in organic and conventional cropping systems under intensive and reduced tillage practices to evaluate the effect of employing different practises. The areas of study are on nutrient density, differences in soil over time, resilience to drought, insects, diseases, weed pressure and profitability of the crops. On November 1st, we proudly celebrated the graduation of our 2024 Rodale Institute Farmer Training students! Watching this new group of regenerative organic farmers prepare to head back to their home fields filled our team with pride. They’re equipped with the skills and insights needed to cultivate successful, thriving farming businesses. These graduates are ready to care for the soil, the ecosystem, and their communities! While it’s bittersweet to see them go, we’re deeply grateful for their dedication and hard work throughout this farming season! Thank you to Burpee Gardening for your essential support in cultivating the next generation of regenerative organic farmers through our RIFT Program!

Yesterday, Rodale Institute was honored to welcome Pennsylvania State Representative Jamie Barton to our campus to announce $500,000 in state funding for our programs! Representative Barton shared his support for Rodale Institute and the positive impact this funding will have on our Veteran Farmer Training Program. Alongside CEO Jeff Tkach and Global Education Operations Manager Justin Barclay, an Army Veteran, the press conference highlighted the importance of agricultural workforce training programs. The Veteran Farmer Training Program equips military veterans with the skills to own or lead organic farming businesses across America, supporting their transition to civilian life. With the average age of a U.S. farmer now at 57, programs like this are essential to cultivating the next generation of skilled agricultural leaders. We’re grateful for this support and excited to see how it helps grow the future of organic farming!

🌱Gen Z is demanding more from their food—are we listening? A recent study by Whole Foods Market reveals that 70% of Gen Z supports climate-smart agricultural practices. Additionally, 55% are willing to pay more for environmentally sustainable products, and over half of Gen Z consumers prefer brands that prioritize lower environmental impacts or locally sourced foods. At Rodale Institute, we’ve upheld these values for decades through our regenerative organic research. And with Whole Foods Market expanding their Regenerative Organic Certified (ROC) food selections, it's clear that sustainable choices are on the rise. Curious about what else this generation is asking for? Read the study: https://lnkd.in/e94Y4dVy

Today, Rodale Institute and Phoebe Ministries broke ground on an exciting new partnership—Phoebe Organic Farm at Founder's Farm! This initiative will provide fresh, organic produce to Phoebe Ministries residents and to our community. The historic Founder's Farm campus is the birthplace of the modern day organic movement and where JI Rodale launched the Rodale Institute in 1947. This partnership will be a model for the future and demonstrate how we can create more resilient food systems and engage the community in the concepts of HEALTHY SOIL = HEALTHY FOOD = HEALTHY PEOPLE. This was JI Rodale's thesis for our work over seventy five years ago and we look forward to bringing this concept to life for Phoebe residents and our community in the years to come.
