Animals are not ours to experiment on, eat, wear, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way.
About us
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) entities have more than 9 million members and supporters globally, and PETA U.S. is the largest animal rights organization in the world. PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: in laboratories, in the food industry, in the clothing trade, and in the entertainment industry. We also work on a variety of other issues, including the cruel killing of rodents, birds, and other animals who are often considered “pests” as well as cruelty to domesticated animals. PETA works through public education, cruelty investigations, research, animal rescue, legislation, special events, celebrity involvement, and protest campaigns. PETA Foundation was founded in 1993 as an organization that helps PETA run, and includes departments like IT, Development, and Interactive Media. PETA and the PETA Foundation are two separate organizations but work very closely together. Looking for a career in animal rights? It’s not just Butterball: Sexual abuse of animals is widespread in the farming industry. Turkeys and pigs raised for their flesh and cows used for their milk are all sexually abused by workers. In May 2024, PETA Asia’s investigators and veterinarian Dr. Heather Rally cracked the Thai coconut industry wide open by exposing exploitative “schools” in which baby monkeys are imprisoned and forcibly trained to pick coconuts. As many as 50 baby monkeys at a single school are isolated, confined, and broken in spirit by the Thai coconut industry so that they can be forced to harvest coconuts for the rest of their lives. Watch video footage from the largest school we visited, and then use the form to call on the Thai government to close all monkey schools and ban monkey labor! https://lnkd.in/dbA5Dpr5 #NotOurstoUse #Animals #Monkeys #AnimalRights #AnimalWelfare #AnimalActivism #Investigation #Coconut #CoconutIndustry #FoodIndustry #Vegan

Blue Ridge Kennel, a laboratory in Alabama that uses dogs in grim companion animal product tests, is a demonstrably provable hellhole that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has repeatedly cited for animal welfare violations that span an array of horrors. Since 2020, USDA inspectors have cited Blue Ridge over 80 times for violations of the federal Animal Welfare Act. But no matter how many citations it racks up, conditions there do not improve. So we need your help to pressure USDA to show some teeth by seizing the long-suffering dogs imprisoned in this miserable facility—a good first step toward shutting it down. https://lnkd.in/euuXv3fc:: #suffering #cruelty #dogs #TakeAction #lab #animals #misery #pressure #ShutDown #horrors #violations #sick #NeedHelp #activist #advocate #AnimalRights #AnimalLiberation

Celebrating the holidays by making tasty food with your loved ones is normal and fun. Here’s what’s not normal: Paying for pigs to be held in constant confinement and then slaughtered at just six months old for a holiday ham. https://lnkd.in/gzF_s2am #PETA #Vegan #GoVegan #NotOurstoEat #AnimalRights #AnimalWelfare #Activism #AnimalActivism #Animals

The start of Hanukkah—aka “The Festival of Lights”— is right around the corner, and we’re here to help make it a compassionate celebration. Jewish tradition emphasizes treating animals with kindness. The Jewish concept of tza’ar ba’alei chayim even explains that humans should never cause other animals pain, as all animals have the capacity to love and suffer and have families and friends of their own. So, wanna make your Hanukkah meaningful and animal-friendly? Check out these three super-easy tips. https://lnkd.in/e-qvBGGq #Hanukkah #holiday #celebrate #FestivalOfLights #compassion #tradition #animals #kindness #love #family #AnimalFriendly #tips #CrueltyFree #traditions

In a dream come true for PETA honorary director Pamela Anderson and the tens of thousands of PETA supporters who took action, Le Marineland d’Antibes (Marineland France) will finally close its doors on January 5, 2025! This massive news comes after years of campaigning by PETA and other animal protection associations, including protests at the park, petitions, letters, exposés, and more. Actions included Pamela Anderson posing naked in a bathtub reminiscent of the tiny tanks in which the animals are housed, prompting influencers to pose in their bathtubs during the COVID-19 lockdown. French YouTube star Greg Guillotin also made a statement by sitting in a fishbowl for another ad campaign. An action alert garnered support from almost 50,000 PETA France supporters, proving how much we can achieve when we raise our voices together! https://lnkd.in/eEke5CXX #victory #major #DreamComeTrue #advocate #support #animals #campaigns #action #activist #ad #celebrate #AnimalRights #AnimalLiberation

Pamela Rosaire and her husband, Roger Zoppe, haven’t used chimpanzees in a traveling circus act in close to a decade, because audiences no longer want to see primates paraded around by a rope noose, forced to wear degrading costumes, and compelled to do backflips on horseback. Circuses that use wild animals are falling by the wayside, yet the Rosaire-Zoppe chimpanzee act has clung to this shameful part of its history by refusing to allow these long-suffering individuals to retire. Before it’s too late for the few chimpanzees who remain in Rosaire and Zoppe’s possession, please ask the couple to work with the North American Primate Sanctuary Alliance to find these primates a permanent home at an accredited sanctuary where they would have the opportunity to socialize with other chimpanzees and receive expert veterinary care, have space to roam, and enjoy a choice of complex enrichment activities. https://lnkd.in/eHrqem6J #chimpanzee #sanctuary #animals #animalrights #veterinarian #animalcare #notyourentertainment #PETA #takeaction

California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed AB 3162—also known as “the California Oppose Cruelty to Octopuses (OCTO) Act”—into law. PETA endorsed the bill in its early stages, and groups including Social Compassion in Legislation and the Animal Legal Defense Fund worked hard to garner support for it. The OCTO Act will make it illegal for anyone in California to engage in the aquaculture, or farming, of octopuses meant for human consumption. It will also ban business owners and operators from knowingly selling octopuses who came from octopus farms. https://lnkd.in/ePs6vjyW #california #octopus #law #bill #protect #advocate #activist #AnimalRights #AnimalLiberation #protection #GoVegan #LiveVegan #animals
