There’s no room for AI hallucinations in autonomous negotiations, explains Kaspar Korjus in Beschaffung Aktuell. Suppliers must be able to trust every word the AI says to them and that’s the only way to ensure AI can act autonomously at scale and create value at scale. For our German speaking followers, this interview with Kaspar in 🇩🇪’s leading procurement magazine explaining this and more is well worth your Sunday reading. …In fact, even if you don’t speak German then it’s worth tapping translate in your browser. (Just overlook the fact they used the wrong picture for Kaspar 🙂)
#AutonomousNegotiations #Einkauf #Beschaffung

We'll be sure to tune in! Some of those tips came from our AI agents as they develop the world's largest library of negotiation behavioural learnings. Despite the popular stereotype of a tough negotiator, our AI has learned that a collaborative approach, and even a collaborative tone, gets better outcomes. It's something to bear in mind over the holidays. People often agree on far more than they realize and shouldn't always get stuck over remaining differences.
Friends, if you're up and about on Monday morning (Dec. 23) I'll be on CBS Mornings Plus at 9 a.m. talking about how to survive the holidays, using tips from our Docusign "Art of Agreement" series. Docusign commissioned a survey and found that about half the people surveyed said they're avoiding holiday get-togethers because they're afraid of conflict, even though they usually enjoy holiday gatherings and wish they could go. I've spent the past year interviewing agreement experts and learning skills that have changed my life. They help mitigate conflict and enable you to have a conversation, not a confrontation. Check it out!

If you want a peek behind the scenes here at Pactum, here's a lovely festive write-up from American author Justin Petrone (whose books adorn many Pactonians' bookshelves). "During the interview, all kinds of characters filter behind Korjus. Men and women, long-haired and short-haired, have beards, are clean-shaven, wear sweatshirts and skirts, and wear more business-like attire. Pactum AI’s team is an interesting crew. Yet, one will not find the usual accoutrements of a startup lifestyle. There are no ping-pong tables on site." "Like tireless North Pole factory elves in the weeks before Christmas, Pactum AI’s engineers are busy improving interfaces for suppliers and users or tweaking the AI to improve contract renewal negotiations and manufacturing price lists. And just like at the North Pole, the snow is cascading down beyond the glass windows of its offices." Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dQitKrGG

Great year end update from the Pactum AI team, with almost 500% increase in autonomously negotiated spend through their platform, including for deals as large as $100m. Congratulations on the significant value creation!
Our data dynamos crunched the numbers. 2024 has been an incredible year for the growth of autonomous negotiations in procurement. More than 50 of the world’s largest companies are agreeing billions of dollars in deals by sending Pactum's AI agents to conduct autonomous negotiations with suppliers. Together, we broke new records this year as autonomously negotiated spend rose 489% - reveal Nicholas Vandrey, Getter Põru, and Simon Schmidt. One company autonomously negotiated a single deal of ~$100 million. Another autonomously negotiated $4.3 billion as a single campaign of spend in just one business area with one category of suppliers. “We just don’t see many limits to [using AI agents for autonomous negotiations],” Walmart’s Michael DeWitt told procurement leaders at DPW in October. “Everything we’ve used it on, it’s been successful. It’s a very good ROI.” The 51 companies conducting autonomous negotiations lead a range of industries - from car makers to toy makers, energy to pharmaceuticals. They all have spend that's high scale, complex, and fragmented - which is best handled by humans managing AI agents, enabling them to find better deals for both sides. “We shouldn’t say [autonomous negotiations] is the future. It’s the present,” Bristol Myers Squibb CPO Paula Glickenhaus told DPW. “[Pactum] is like the Roomba vacuum. It’s helping you here so you can do the big stuff.” Feedback from suppliers has been very positive, as mentioned publicly by several clients this year. Our own qualitative score shows a slight increase in positivity rating. They like the user-friendly experience, which keeps improving, but also the opportunities to do more business with large enterprises that previously wouldn’t have capacity to negotiate with them. Some growing suppliers are now very experienced negotiating with AI. One supplier, for example, negotiated 263 times with our AI this year. They’ve had 471 in total! Companies tend to first send their AI negotiation agents to their long tail of indirect spend. But we see major growth in strategic spend too, including on goods for resale and direct procurement in manufacturing. The largest saving on a single deal was $2 million. And our clients also spoke publicly this year about their increased efficiency, agility, and resilience, resulting from their capability to rapidly engage suppliers at scale. “We got the hard savings and I love every bit of that,” Veritiv CCO Dan Calderwood told procurement leaders at SIG in March. “But we also began to realize quickly that [Pactum] is a tool for us to interact with our supply base on another level.” One autonomous negotiation took just 1 minute and 7 seconds to agree and sign. The supplier had only received the link to the negotiation 20 seconds earlier! Procurement professionals are now the leaders in driving value through agentic AI. So, on behalf of our growing team of Pactonians (with 41 new hires in 2024), thank you, merry Christmas and happy new year.

Curious about the growth trajectory of an Agentic AI company founded before Agentic AI was even a trend? Here’s a snapshot of Pactum AI in 2024. The year isn’t over yet, but we’re thrilled to see our ARR continuing to grow at more than 2.5x per year. Onward and upward!
