One of the most special parts of the holiday season that we celebrate at OMWBD is the gift of giving, especially when it comes to engaging in community service! 🎁 For our December Vendor of the Month Spotlight, we wanted to showcase the exceptional and growing impact that Professional Management Enterprises (PME) has made in the greater Indianapolis area. Since the company's beginning in 2005, giving back has always been a PME tradition. Professional Management Enterprises has a longstanding dedication to community engagement, youth mentorship, and veteran support through volunteerism and philanthropy. One of PME’s cornerstone community efforts is its annual scholarship program, which has been supporting deserving high school graduates for more than a decade. The company also supports local education through back-to-school book bag drives, with PME employees filling over 300 backpacks this fall. As a veteran-owned business, supporting Indianapolis's veterans is also paramount to PME. The company collaborates with Helping Veterans and Families (HVAF) to coordinate quarterly donations of clothing and hygiene supplies. During the holiday season, PME organizes and hosts Thanksgiving and Christmas luncheons for veterans. The company’s efforts also include personally distributing blankets, hygiene supplies, and other necessities to vulnerable individuals experiencing homelessness at camps in Indianapolis. Service projects and volunteerism are simply part of day-to-day work life at PME. Team members also coordinate efforts to support organizations including Gleaners Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, American Cancer Society’s Men Wear Pink campaign, Ascension St. Vincent House at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital, and other worthy projects. At PME, community involvement is woven into the company’s culture. Whether it’s mentoring local youth, organizing donations, or supporting veterans, the company’s actions reflect a deep commitment to fostering positive change. PME continues to set an example of how businesses can lead through service, collaboration, and community support. Special thanks to Danny Portee and Katrina Ewing for sharing their words about PME's commitment to the Indianapolis community.

The City of Indianapolis and its partners are working with BBC Research & Consulting to conduct their 2025 Disparity Study. This collaborative effort aims to assess the current challenges faced by business owners within the Indianapolis business community. Learn more about the study here. Every five (5) years the Consolidated City of Indianapolis and Marion County government and local partners conduct a disparity study to assess if businesses face any barriers as part of the City’s contracting processes. The study also includes analyses related to municipal corporation prime contracts and subcontracts (https://bit.ly/xbestudy). We invite you to join us in attending a public hybrid meeting designed to engage with the Indianapolis business community to share information and answer questions about the upcoming 2025 Disparity Study. This December, Professional Management Enterprises (PME) celebrated being named OMWBD's Vendor of the Month, along with their nineteenth anniversary since the business's establishment. As we recognize Professional Management Enterprises for their incredible business and community service efforts this month, let's take a look at how PME started! Professional Management Enterprises, Inc. was formally established in December 2005 by Danny Portee, MBA, who still serves as the company's President and CEO. Portee founded PME in Indianapolis, Indiana upon his retirement from the United States Army after over twenty years of military service to our country. Danny Portee, MBA, had a vision to transform how he could serve his community by founding Professional Management Enterprises, as he sought to strengthen other businesses through uplifting equity and diversity. Professional Management Enterprises soon became a professional staffing and management company, seeking to help government and corporate entities identify diverse and qualified talent in their communities. Furthermore, Portee and his growing team at PME worked hard to grow the business as a leader in community service in the greater Indianapolis area. Nineteen years later, Professional Management Enterprises has grown into an award-winning business leader -- serving client organizations of all sizes both locally and nationally. PME remains headquartered in Indianapolis, but has grown to include two satellite offices in Washington D.C. and South Carolina. The company employs over 500 dedicated team members and serves more than 40 contracted clients. PME's services include call center services, staffing services, human resource support, information technology solutions, and financial services. Outside of the business realm, Professional Management Enterprises has become a pillar of community service in the city of Indianapolis, using their platform to give back to the community that shapes them. To this day, Professional Management Enterprises remains guided by a powerful mission statement: "Our journey is dedicated to leaving a lasting impact – across businesses, communities, and at home, within our PME family". ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Special thanks to Danny Portee and Katrina Ewing for sharing their words about PME's origin and mission.
