Do you own a business that sponsors a retirement plan? SECURE Act 2.0, which passed in late 2022, brings several provisions aimed at boosting retirement security for employees. Here's a quick look at what's coming: ✅ Larger Catch-Up Contributions for Employees Ages 60-63 In 2025, workers aged 60-63 can make catch-up contributions of up to $10,000 or 150% of the regular catch-up amount for those 50+, whichever is greater. ✅ Catch-Up Contributions Must Go Into Roth 401(k) for High Earners Starting in 2025, employees earning $145,000+ (indexed) in the prior year will be required to contribute catch-up amounts to a Roth 401(k). ✅ Automatic Enrollment in 401(k) and 403(b) Plans Beginning in 2025, businesses with new 401(k) and 403(b) plans will need to automatically enroll new employees at a contribution rate of 3% - 10% of their salary, with annual increases of 1% up to a max of 15%. ✅ Tracking Down Lost 401(k) Plans In 2025, employers must share information on orphaned retirement plans with the Department of Labor, making it easier for employees to track down lost accounts.
