Although the old saying suggests that all good things must come to an end, that isn’t the case for the 2023 cohort of CEE-Change Fellows. This Fellowship brought together individuals from all over the world who are working on projects that address climate change through civic engagement and environmental education (CEE). Thank you to our funders at the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Cedar Tree Foundation, ee360+, and NAAEE for supporting this inspiring group of individuals. Over the coming weeks, the incredible EE 30 Under 30 Class of 2024 will be taking over our feed and we can't wait for you to get to know them. Meet our first guest, Martín Nicolás Griffin! "As an environmental educator and proud member of the #EE30U30 Class of 2024, I have dedicated my career to driving change through education. From school workshops to supporting innovative socio-environmental projects, I have worked to inspire concrete actions against the climate crisis. I currently coordinate the School of Climate Leaders, a transformative space where we train and empower high school seniors as changemakers in their schools and communities. Through leadership training, climate education, and the promotion of socio-environmental projects, we equip them with the skills and tools needed to tackle the climate crisis and improve their communities. I strongly believe environmental education is essential to building a fairer, more equitable, sustainable, and compassionate world for future generations." Teaching about climate change can bring a range of emotions to the surface for both educators and learners. A new article from 11 contributors, published on behalf of the Australian Journal of Environmental Education, discusses how environmental educators navigate this process. Personal insights provided by the contributors include: - The significance of embracing diverse perspectives and knowledge systems; - Emotions as catalysts for action and activism; - The value of fostering collaborative spaces/relationships/communities that empower people; - The importance of integrating ethical responses and critical climate literacy in climate change education/research; - Learning from places and multi-species entanglements; and - Acknowledging tensions.
