Another article from The Strategist and another #1 spot for the Misen Carbon Steel Pan. This Strategist editor tried traditional nonstick, ceramic, and a few of our competitors' carbon steel pans without success. Turns out Misen Carbon Steel is the only one that could replace her nonstick. 💙 “When the pans arrived, I put the larger one immediately to the test, frying an egg first, then cooking a pan full of potstickers, all of which slid off without a hitch. Since then, I’ve pan-roasted Brussels sprouts, broccoli, and salmon, made fried rice, and cooked pancakes and many more eggs in them. I also haven’t felt the need to use my nonstick pans since.” https://lnkd.in/gKUaMHR6

Incredible Tools at Honest Prices. Better Cooking Doesn’t Need to be Expensive.
About us
Our name comes from ‘mise en place’ — a culinary term that means “to put in place.” Chefs use the term to describe the process of setting up their stations before service. Misen is an ode to mise en place; better cooking through proper preparation with quality tools. Our mission at Misen is to inspire and enable great cooking. For us, well-made kitchen tools are essential to that; whether it’s getting a perfect golden sear with a quality pan or beautifully slicing vegetables with a sharp knife, quality tools create better meals - and just make cooking more fun. By selling directly to consumers online and cutting out retail middlemen, we’re able to offer thoughtfully designed and premium-quality kitchen tools at honest prices. We launched in 2015, with our Chef’s Knife raising over $1M in Kickstarter pledges. Since then, we’ve been slowly expanding our offerings for the kitchen—including stainless steel cookware and nonstick pans—and have even bigger plans for the future. Now, we’re looking for a few incredible humans to help us build the next phase of our growth.

We're loving this review of our bread knife by Delish: "The best bread knife we've ever tried bar none." That's it. That's the whole review. We have no notes. 💙

Not sure we could have said it better ourselves. Thank you for the top spot Food & Wine! "The Misen 8-Quart Stockpot received our highest rating in every category we tested, including design, performance, durability, and ease of cleaning. We loved this pot's flat ergonomic handles, which fit comfortably into our hands and make carrying the pot easier, even when full. " Ranked number 1 and still more affordable than the 4 runner ups? Seems like we're on to something... https://lnkd.in/gXHUFeEw

If you're interested in Marketing at Misen, please apply soon. Week 1 of 2 for new applications is almost over!
Week 1 hiring recap / update for Director of Marketing / VP of Marketing: Insane amounts of talent in our funnel and the competition is real. I could hire any one of 10 candidates today (only 4 full days in) and Misen will do great. While our main focus is finding the best candidate for the role in the next 5 business days, I’m especially pleased with the positive responses (98%!) from my rejection emails. 348 applicants since 6/10 39 new 89 (25% of total) still in consideration 26 (22% of consideration) invited for 15 min chat 25 (96% of invited) completed 15 min interview 194 rejected For candidates: If you haven't heard from me yet, you will today or tomorrow, which is yes, Saturday. Many HR folks have told me over the years to schedule those replies for 9AM Monday. As a candidate, do you want to wait until the next business day or hear feedback as soon as it’s ready? Yep, me too. My team doesn’t get weekend emails from me, but candidates sure will. Next Steps: 1) Complete review of consideration candidates and invite those that pass to 15 min chats. 2) Review 15 min chats (I owe you all responses!) and move top candidates to a 30 min nerd-out session Monday - Wednesday. I’m traveling for work Tuesday - Thursday so this can only be when I’m at a desk. I believe interviewing anyone when not seated and focused is disrespectful. What we’ve done right: Review every application myself and respond personally to every applicant. There’s 2 wins here: 1) By reading every application myself, I’m confident we’re getting our selection process right. I know many applicants won’t agree with me - us marketers are a confident bunch - but our funnel is so packed with talent and it’s tough competition. 2) Out of 194 rejection emails I have sent, 113 replied back thanking me for the feedback and/or the quick response. 2 responses were negative but I never expect this to be 0. This is why we put in the time during hiring weeks. It’s what I would want as a candidate, it’s the right thing to do, and even though they didn’t get the job, we have 100+ more Misen fans now. What we could have done better: 1) Get back to candidates quicker. Hiring is unfortunately not the only critical thing on my plate this week, and these would look far better if that was the case. ~25 got an answer in 24 hours ~50 got an answer in 48 hours 100% will get an answer in 6 days 2) I missed an interview! Not sure what happend but it never made it to my calendar. Not blaming you Ashby :) If you have feedback, let me have it! 😶

Coincidence that nearly every reviewer endorses our knives for value AND admits to owning several? Um, no. Thank you to chef Jeff Strauss for his kind words in The Strategist: "I really like these knives as value buys. One of the things knife nerds talk about is steel hardness, and these are on the harder end of bendy, which is a sweet spot. I know a bunch of pro chefs who use these; I have six of them. You don’t have to be too, too precious." 6 of them? If you need a 7th, happy to get you one in a new color :) https://lnkd.in/gSaiJEeY

We don't often say "pitch us" but...pitch us!
Hi LI fam. We’re adding several new positions in the coming months and I think it’s time we had a proper ATS. Considering Workable ($) and Greenhouse Software ($$$) again but are there any other solid ones out there we should demo? Our needs are below; comment with suggestions please. Must have: -Able to flex cost with use. May have 0-6 openings at a given time. -Easy integrations with SMS and email. Yes, we all use SMS for hiring and it shouldn’t be an afterthought. -3rd party distribution, but doesn’t everyone at this point? Nice to have: -Native Shopify integration. Please no subdomains or iframes. It’s 2024 folks. -Ability to pause / repost jobs and retain old applicant flow. When you’re opening up a job again to add to the team, why start from zero?
