🎓 Last week, MassCPAs Student Ambassadors wrapped up two fantastic events connecting students with accounting professionals!   🔹 Dec. 12: Westfield State University Ambassador Justin Forest hosted a networking event featuring professionals from MP CPAs. Eight students gained career advice, shared meaningful conversations (and pizza 🍕) and learned about the benefits of MassCPAs' free student membership. 🔹 Dec. 13: UMass Boston Ambassador Zerek Gutierrez organized a Q&A panel with 22 students and three professionals: Steven Heintzelman, CPA (Odyssey Financial & Accounting Solutions, LLC), Patricia O’Boyle, EA (Schwartz & Schwartz PC - CPAs) and Tim MacLellan, CPA, PFS, CGMA (Morgan & Morgan, PC). The panelists shared their unique career journeys and offered valuable advice, leaving students inspired and well-informed.   Thank you to Justin, Zerek and the professionals who supported these events and helped students take their next steps in the accounting profession. This morning, we had our second MassCPAs Women’s Mentoring Circle at LCW CPAs. It’s always inspiring to connect with so many accomplished women in the profession and engage in meaningful discussions. Today’s topics included navigating work-life balance and the growing impact of AI in the workplace! Topics that very much challenge us to grow and adapt. Last week, I had the pleasure of participating in a panel discussion organized by the MassCPAs at UMass Boston. It was a great opportunity to connect with aspiring accounting students and discuss the many pathways this field has to offer, alongside fellow panelists Tim MacLellan, CPA and Patricia O’Boyle. During the session, we explored a wide range of topics - from the diverse career avenues within accounting to the invaluable role that networking plays in building a successful professional journey. That's a wrap on this year's Accounting Opportunities Experience!   Over the past month and a half, we’ve connected with 24 schools, delivered 30 presentations, engaged 36 inspiring volunteers and reached 620 students across Massachusetts.   Last week, Logan Tumal, staff accountant at Burkhart, Pizzanelli, P.C., shared his journey with students at Easthampton Public Schools, while a team from CBIZ — Francisco A. Rodriguez Tineo, Juliana Ferro, MBA and Mark Higgins, CPA — inspired students at Boston Latin Academy. Our volunteers have been incredible storytellers, highlighting the pathways from high school to rewarding careers in accounting. By sharing their stories, answering questions and sparking curiosity, they’ve shown students the many opportunities in this dynamic profession.   Thank you to everyone who participated in making this program a success!
