Our Eagle lunar terrain vehicle recently underwent Astronaut testing at NASA's Johnson Space Center, marking a major step in advancing lunar mobility. These tests were conducted in a simulated lunar gravity environment by offloading a portion of the Astronauts' weight through an advanced crane system, allowing the Astronauts to evaluate Eagle’s design, safety features, and usability in scenarios like emergency rescue and scientific operations on the Moon. The feedback from these evaluations is integral to refining Eagle into the safest, most reliable vehicle for the Moon’s surface. Designed to support NASA’s Artemis missions, Eagle will enable Astronauts to explore the lunar South Pole, paving the way for a sustainable human presence on the Moon and beyond! https://bit.ly/3Dm3b1n Photo credit: NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration #TheNextLeap #DrivingArtemis #LunarOutpost #SpaceTech #Moon #Innovation

About us
Lunar Outpost is the industry leader in space robotics, lunar surface mobility, and space resources. We are on a mission to enable an extended human presence in space while utilizing the vast resources in space to drive positive impacts here on Earth. From our five rovers headed to the Moon to explore, prospect, and establish infrastructure, to the creation of oxygen on Mars, our impact spans the solar system. Lunar Outpost’s mobility and robotic systems, ranging from our exploration-class Mobile Autonomous Prospecting Platform (MAPP) rover to our truck-sized industrial Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV), will be the workforce for the New Space economy and enable Lunar Outpost to bring the infinite value of space to benefit humanity on Earth and beyond. Through notable commercialization and amazing partnerships, Lunar Outpost creates tremendous value in the New Space economy. Lunar Outpost leads the Lunar Dawn team, consisting of General Motors, Goodyear, and MDA Space – the leading consortium for LTV providing mobility for Artemis astronauts, a critical component of the broader Artemis campaign that will enable a sustainable presence on the Moon. Lunar Outpost’s five upcoming lunar surface missions will make history, with our first rover set to be the first commercial rover on the Moon and the first rover in history to explore the lunar South Pole, while enabling the first sale of space resources in human history alongside many other firsts. Each of our next four rover voyages build on our capabilities and technology, all leading towards mobility and robotic systems that can reliably operate in the most extreme environments our solar system has to offer.

Revolutionizing lunar exploration starts with MAPP. Our Mobile Autonomous Prospecting Platform is the first commercial rover built to tackle the challenges of the lunar surface. With lightweight efficiency, specialized wheels, and advanced autonomy, MAPP confidently navigates GPS-denied terrain, accessing regions once throught unreachable. Its cutting-edge sensors and cameras ensure safe and precise traversal of the Moon’s rugged environment. Set to make history on Lunar Voyage 1, MAPP will explore the lunar South Pole, demonstrating the technologies needed for sustainable exploration and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible on the Moon. #TheNextLeap #LunarOutpost #SpaceTech #Moon #Innovation

Recently, Lunar Outpost had the honor of welcoming retired Astronauts Dan Burbank and John Grunsfeld to test our Eagle Lunar Terrain Vehicle, bringing their collective expertise from 246 days in space. Dan and John have previously worked together on Hubble Space Telescope spacewalks with Grunsfeld in space and Burbank in Mission Control, bringing unique insights on human-spacecraft interfaces that were invaluable for our LTV design process. Their feedback during this test helped guide key design refinements, enhancing our vehicle’s functionality, efficiency, and – most importantly – safety. Human factors testing like this is essential for Astronaut well-being and mission success by ensuring our vehicle’s design provides the tools necessary for crew to safely explore the lunar South Pole. Each test brings us closer to delivering a vehicle that supports seamless and secure operations on the lunar surface, enabling the success of NASA’s Artemis missions. #TheNextLeap #DrivingArtemis #LunarOutpost #SpaceTech #Innovation

Thank you Alex Knapp and Forbes for featuring Lunar Outpost in this week's edition of The Prototype! We are excited to contribute to the New Space economy to make space accessible to all.
New edition of my emerging tech newsletter, The Prototype, just dropped. Here's what's inside: 👩⚕️ Doctors at Kennedy Krieger Institute developed a treatment program that helps children with acute flaccid myelitis regain some of their ability to walk. 🚚 I spoke with Justin Cyrus, CEO of Lunar Outpost, about the progress his company is making in developing a lunar rover for the Artemis missions. 📱 Research shows you shouldn't use abbreviations in your texts if you want people to reply to you. And much more. https://lnkd.in/gyubb6NK
