Last week, Abby Levy spoke to a full house as Cornell Tech @ Bloomberg's first guest speaker of 2024. As the managing partner at #VC Primetime Partners, Levy has her sights set on an expansive $8 trillion market, aiming to enhance the lives of older adults through necessary care, services, products, and entertainment. Levy's story resonated with me personally, as we both hail from #manufacturing and #consumergoods backgrounds. Her experience in this sector taught her the critical importance of understanding and delighting customers, and that ultimately, the goal is always to drive #sales. During her insightful conversation with Ritika Gupta of Bloomberg TV, Levy shared valuable advice for aspiring #founders in our audience. Her key points included: emphasizing financial projections (Excel) over branding (PowerPoint) when pitching to investors; pursuing business ideas that minimize friction, increase sales, or reduce costs in their first year; and, the effectiveness of a concise one-pager to secure initial meetings, rather than lengthy pitch decks.
