June 14th, 2011. 10 years ago I started my garlic dip company. Launched it the week after graduating from college. It took the next 8 years of R&D just to get to the “starting line”. From the Minneapolis farmers market, to quitting my job at Target HQ, to betting everything I saved, to moving back into my parents’ house, to a commercial kitchen lease with my supportive dad co-signing, to getting my food manufacturers license, to making thousands of tubs by hand with my workhorse mom, to becoming a MN Cup finalist, to finally getting into retail only to have product mold on the shelf, to teaching myself food science, to forming relationships with incredible mentors, to having our brand featured on CNBC, to buying a $40k dud packaging machine, to getting booted from my first co-packer, to completely rebranding, to pitching the largest retailers in the world, to signing my dream co-packer, to solving mass production and shelf life, to getting into Whole Foods Midwest, to my sister and brother-in-law moving across the country to help, to executing hundreds of in-store demos ourselves, to COVID cancelling demos and Expo West, to the first California garlic shortage in 35 years, to my packaging supplier going under, to finally figuring out the formula to scale, the journey has been insanely difficult, yet so rewarding. Looking back, I realize all the hardships made me better, smarter, and more resilient. I couldn’t have done it without my amazing family. We now have the foundation built to become an overnight success a decade in the making, and nothing will stop us from making fresh garlic snackable. Looking forward to someday telling our crazy story on How I Built This. How it started. How it’s going.

Here are 9 of my favourite food products spotted at Natural Products Expo West and in grocery stores during my recent trip to Los Angeles 🇺🇸 : 1️⃣ CHKP Foods dairy-free flavoured chickpea yoghurts – blueberry was divine! 🫐 2️⃣ RIND Snacks chocolate squares, which include the fruit rind 🍫 3️⃣ Lil Bucks ‘Clusterbucks’ – buckwheat granola clusters with ashwagandha (this ingredient also featured in several drinks 👀) 4️⃣ ChiChi ~ Chickpea Oats high protein, grain-free chickpea porridge 🥣 5️⃣ Noka Organics on-the-go superfood smoothie pouches 🍓 6️⃣ Skippy PeanutButter's interesting Squeeze Pack formats, and P.B.
