🌟 A few weeks ago, we shared exciting news about our participation in IsQua2024 alongside our colleague Carola Orrego. We discussed the SCAPE questionnaire, an essential tool for understanding and improving the experience of cancer patients. Thanks to its translation and adaptation into several European languages (Spanish, Greek, Polish, and Slovene), we are enhancing oncology care while tailoring it to diverse cultural contexts. We are pleased to announce that we have received Ethics Committee approval in 4 countries: 🇪🇸 Spain, 🇵🇱 Poland, 🇸🇮 Slovenia, and 🇮🇹 Italy. This is a crucial step for the development of our clinical trial in each of these countries. 🔍 What is an Ethics Committee? The Ethics Committee is responsible for ensuring that our research meets the highest ethical standards, protecting the rights, safety, and well-being of all study participants. Their approval is essential to ensure that our practices are safe, transparent, and patient-centered. We are continuing the process for approval in the remaining countries to move forward in our goal of improving liver cancer treatment and bringing new hope to those fighting this disease. In previous posts, we’ve mentioned the COOLINGBIS system, but today we want to give you an in-depth look at what it is and why it’s a crucial component in our fight against liver cancer. COOLINGBIS, developed by Vecmedical, is a radiofrequency-assisted device designed to achieve additional coagulation at the tumor margins during partial or total resection of organs like the liver, kidneys, pancreas, and spleen. This means that during tumor removal surgery, the system enables an extra layer of safety around the tumor margins. This precision helps reduce the risk of local cancer recurrence, offering patients a better chance of recovery and fewer postoperative complications. Additionally, COOLINGBIS features an innovative internal cooling system that prevents tissue from sticking to the electrode, making the procedure even safer.
