    Last week, I turned down a big potential customer. Saying "no" to revenue is scary! A Head of Growth (for a major US security firm) was intro’d to me by a current Limelight customer. So we jumped on a call to: → Chat about the future of B2B influencer marketing → Hash out their 2025 goals and marketing budget → Research B2B creators in their niche But after careful consideration (& consulting with my team)... We decided to bow out of the partnership. Why? I wasn’t 100% convinced we could deliver the B2B creators/ad space they needed for their niche. My priority is delivering for EVERY customer. I’ll only take on brands I’m sure we can knock it out of the park for 👊🏼 Weirdly, I feel proud writing this. It’s hard saying “no” when there's cash on the line (Especially at the early stages of a startup!) But it's the right call. Rather than saying “yes” to quick revenue, we’re growing consciously AND cautiously...     Proud to be a CEO to watch in 2025! 🎉 24 months ago, I was: Burned out after 10 years in SaaS Needing time off to recharge Nervous about my next step I questioned if I would find my drive again. I’d sprinted for 6 years and run out of steam. (entrepreneurship does that to you!) But in June 2023, the spark returned. After 5 months out of work... & raising my son, Cooper I decided it was time to build something ⚡ A few terrible ideas later, I began to narrow it down. I knew... - I wanted to be in B2B SaaS - I wanted to build revenue-tech - I was wasting my time doing anything else So I got to work. Today, it feels like I’m FINALLY back.     I will eventually fire my team. (If they don't leave before, that is). Why? They're too good NOT to start their own thing. When they do (hopefully not anytime soon 😅) … I’ll be their first customer! But right now? I'm building a team of intrapreneurs. (this is my $10M revenue strategy) I hire people who... Have entrepreneurial mindset Take full ownership of their results Execute at speed and stack learnings (But who aren't 'ready' to go solo just yet) And then? → I give them 100% autonomy → I encourage them to lead their function → I don't manage them; they manage themselves I don’t run Limelight. My team do. Each person is the 'Founder' of their function. They lead decision-making. They advise me on what to do. They work in a way that suits them. I don't believe in hierarchy in founding teams. Sure, one day they will leave. That's business. But my strategy will always be the same: Hire "intrapreneurs" and give them full freedom. These people will 10x your early growth.

    “Hire BEFORE you need to.” I disagree ❌ In 2020, it was cool to have 100+ people teams. Today? Nobody cares 🤣 It’s more IMPRESSIVE to have: → Low burn rate → High % profitability → Lean and flexible teams Fiverr, Gumroad and BrewDog made $10M revenue (with less than 10 employees each). Now all 3 are giants in their industries. Early stage startups don’t need a high headcount. More people ≠ more output Tight teams help you hit $10M revenue - faster! ✅ You make quicker decisions ✅ You solve problems more quickly ✅ You eliminate bureaucracy and admin ✅ You have a stronger sense of camaraderie ✅ You cull hierarchy and bloated management The focus is on your user, product and sales. Not managing people problems. → Hire b̶e̶f̶o̶r̶e̶ WHEN you need to! Do you agree?
