✨ The holidays are a time to reflect on what shapes us: family, friends, #culture and #connection. This year, I had the honor of joining my amazing #millennial sisters Veranda Runsewe & Ambri Williams on the A+E Networks cooking competition show created by the Cake Boss 🎥Chef Buddy Valastro “Holiday Recipe Rumble”(📌Episode 3) now streaming live on Hulu 📺 We proudly called ourselves “The Williams Sisters” a tribute to our #family name, being self-taught with recipes passed on to us by our Mom and Dad and representing the grit of our #Chicago upbringing🌆 #Grit isn’t just a word for me—it’s a way of life. As the oldest of five🖐️ I grew up working alongside my parents as #entrepreneurs, who owned and operated 8 family businesses, so wasn’t just a kid. I was always a manager-in-training — making tough decisions, taking challenges head-on, and solving problems that close gaps—in life, in business and in the communities and customers that our businesses served. Through it all, what carried my sisters and I in the competition, was the love, our bond and the values our parents instilled in us: 📌#TeamWorkWORKS— It’s about combining #strengths, leaning on one another under pressure and achieving more together than we can alone 📌#Leadership that starts with #inclusion—#Leaders create space for others to #thrive by ensuring everyone feels seen, heard and supported 📌#Love is the foundation of #influence—Relationships built on love and #trust, #inspire #transformation and #impact lives This #experience wasn’t just about cooking 👩🏽🍳—it reminded me of the #thoughtleadership that I’m hired to share as a #keynote #speaker every day: 💫#navigate constant #change 💫#adapt in real time 💫#lead by #influence 💫#explore ways to be #inclusive 💫#innovate quickly As an #CEO, #Founder and #ExecutiveCoach, I know firsthand that life doesn’t pause when opportunities arise. I am incredibly excited to share that beginning next week, I will be joining @Gensler Detroit as Co-Managing Director, alongside @John Waller. After nearly four years with the @City of Detroit under the remarkable leadership of Mayor Duggan, I am returning to my urban design and planning roots. This new role will allow me to continue investing in Detroit's prosperity and future, while leveraging my background to continue transforming the city urbanistically. A longtime admirer of Gensler's work both in Detroit and at the global level, I am very much looking forward to joining a team of talented designers in our country's sole UNESCO Design City.
