justwords.ai helps companies boost user retention by dynamically refreshing content on emails, push, in-app messages and websites. It is built on a modern stack that replaces old-school campaign marketing with an ML-first approach to content personalization.
We help turn the cost of experimentation to zero by enabling growth teams to be in a state of continuous testing with our ranking systems.
This week, I decided to hit the road and meet our customers face-to-face. It’s one of the most rewarding parts of building just words—grabbing coffee, exchanging ideas, and learning from some of the smartest, most ambitious leaders out there. ☕✨ There are a few patterns that are common across all of them:
1) They’re always thinking 3 steps ahead—they can envision the future before others can.
2) They never run out of questions to ask—questions that come from a place of curiosity & a deep desire to continuously learn.
3) They lead with optimism—they choose belief over skepticism. Every conversation leaves me inspired and energized.
It's a privilege to partner with such forward-thinking leaders. Building the future together with them makes the journey so much more fun and rewarding! 💙
We spoke with 100+ Lifecycle and CRM Marketing leaders, and the message is loud and clear: traditional A/B testing is chaos. AI isn’t just making workflows efficient—it’s how top teams are staying ahead in a fast-moving landscape 👇
8 years ago, I took a leap of faith—quitting my cushy job at Goldman Sachs to join SensorFlow as their founding engineer. It meant a 50% pay cut, long hours, and chaos—but it was the best decision I ever made. just words wouldn't be where it is without that experience.
6 months ago, I was on the hunt for someone with that same fire I felt back then—the grit to dive headfirst into uncertainty, the passion to build something from nothing. Jeff and I screened hundreds of resumes, conducted over 50 interviews, and came up empty. It felt like we were hunting for a unicorn.
Thanks to Jeff’s outbounding (which beat my sales outbounds any day) and our Tweep connections, Rodrigo popped onto our radar. After his first call with Rodrigo -
Jeff: “I think you’d really like him”
Me: “Should we meet him for a coffee tonight?”
Jeff: “I am texting him right now”
Within an hour, in true founder-mode fashion, we were sitting by the painted ladies with Rodrigo, and within a week, we made him an offer.
We had the PMF feeling with Rodrigo, and here’s why we were right. In the last few months -
- He has organized multiple late-night hackathons
- He beats us to the office before 9 am consistently every day
- He is so willing to dive into our chaos headfirst (and may have suggested we use linear to get our shit together in our first 1-1 - we’re now power users)
- He came prepared with 3 board games for our first happy hour & roasted Jeff in every game.
We’re ready to feel that PMF magic again—with our next few founding team members. If this story resonates with you, let’s talk! https://lnkd.in/gzxEcQ8T
"BeReal. observed a 2M increase in opens through personalized, localized push notifications. Houston, we have a growth problem… 🚨
Let’s talk about localization…
When we first teamed up with BeReal, it became crystal clear that localization was a pressing challenge. With users across Europe, North America, and Asia dealing with the most subtle differences like British and American English—personalizing communication for every local was like trying to change a restaurant's cuisine in real-time.
The big question: How do you personalize push notifications at scale, without drowning in complexity?
Back in my tweep days, getting engineering, product, and content marketing aligned to run a simple A/B test on messaging for push notifications took months. That frustration prompted Jeff and I to build just words where we can scale testing 100+ variations within weeks, personalized by cohorts.
The result?
BeReal observed a 2M increase in opens through personalized, localized push notifications. By experimenting with over 60 variations—across English, French, Spanish, and Japanese—we found the perfect message for each region, whether someone was in southern France or northern Japan, all while ensuring the right slang and tone for that area.
For those facing localization challenges, how are you approaching this problem?
I'd love to hear your thoughts— feel free to drop them down below! ⬇️

just words (YC W ‘24) closed its seed round and has seen a great growth trajectory so far. They are already working with large enterprises like Grammarly, Notion, and BiggerPockets. They are actively expanding their founding team, and hiring full-stack founding engineers. Highly recommend jumping on this opportunity. If you’re ready to make an impact and work with seasoned folks from Twitter, Pinterest, and Tumblr, this is your chance! 🚀 https://lnkd.in/eAqdkCdP
One of the best perks of this job is getting to work with innovative companies that introduce me to exciting new products I wouldn’t have found otherwise.
Last week, we had an incredible on-site growth strategy session with BiggerPockets (learnt a thing or two about Tulsa's hot real estate)
After the meeting, I headed back to my Airbnb and started browsing through their book collection. I picked a random one and guess what it turned out to be 👀
Thanks Eric Harper for hosting us - your team's energy was contagious!

The next-gen marketing platform will be a strategizing tool, not a workflow builder, and that will lay the foundations of a future where communication is 1-1, conversational, and channel agnostic.
