**U.S. District Court Blocks Overtime Rule Nationwide** A United States District Court has vacated the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) rule that was set to increase the salary threshold for overtime exemptions, stating that the DOL exceeded its authority by raising the threshold too high. The 2024 rule mandated a two-phase increase to $844 per week ($43,888K annually) in July 2024 and $1,128 per week ($58,656K annually) set to begin January 1, 2025. The judge struck down the two-phrase increase and the automatic increases in the salary threshold that was to occur every three years. As a result of this ruling, the U.S. overtime minimum salary will be set back to $35,568. Experts expect the U.S. Department of Labor to appeal the ruling before the new administration takes office January 20, 2025. #dol #overtimerule #HR #compensation
