We are on a mission to share Responsible Tourism knowledge and training to make tourism better
About us
ICRT global is on a mission to amplify the 2002 Cape Town Declaration on Responsible Tourism and the 2022 Responsible Tourism Charter. It will do this by providing online training courses, bespoke training for organisations, and manuals and guidance to support Universities to create Responsible Tourism courses. It will also run events and lead the Responsible Tourism Awards with real world experience from winners then fed back into its training programmes. ICRT global will act as a hub for the independent regional ICRTs around the world and as an open-source of knowledge for anyone looking for ways to make tourism better. Regional ICRTs already operate successfully in Southern and West Africa, the India sub-continent, Latin America and Southeast Asia. Each ICRT shares a common purpose in developing and promoting the concept of responsible tourism through advocacy, education, training and research particularly in the Global South.

Navigating the Green Horizon? Our founder Emeritus Professor Harold Goodwin is speaking at the Tourism Think Tank in Montenegro which runs from 27 to 29 November. It’s a great schedule including a key-note from the always thought-provoking Doug Lansky 🌲 Harold will give a speech on Navigating the Green Horizon: Directions for Responsible Tourism After COP29 and EU Anti Greenwashing Initiatives. 🖼 He'll then moderate a panel focusing on Anti-Greenwashing -The EU Green Claims Directive, its Impacts and Consequences on Businesses, Certification Market and Consumers. Panellists will include Dr Ioannis Pappas Director, Mediterranean at GSTC; Renée Nicole Wagner, PhD. Corporate Director of ESG and Quality Management, Orascom Hotels Management AG; Baptiste Carriere-Pradal, BCG Senior Advisor. It looks like a great, good value event. Congratulations to Vicky Smith and Kirsi Hyvaerinen. We’ll be following with interest. We are counting down to Monday 4 November when we formally launch ICRT global, with the support of easyJet holidays. And we unveil the winners of this year's #GlobalResponsibleTourismAwards, sponsored by Sabre Corporation. Thank you to all the panellists and speakers for our conference including Matt Callaghan, Tess Longfield, Martin Brackenbury Oddny Arnarsdottir Tim Williamson, Adama Bah, Jayni Gudka, Mike Benson and our founder Harold Goodwin. We'll be discussing mainstreaming responsible tourism, new models of responsible tourism and the responsible tourism movement. Then we'll be inspired by all the finalists and winners of the #GlobalResponsibleTourismAwards, sponsored by Sabre. This really is an exceptional awards programme which has now been running for 20 years. Every finalist has already won a regional award in either Latin America, Africa, the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia, or a Rest of the World Category. It's free to enter and that means the smallest innovative ideas of best practice from around the world have the chance to compete with bigger organisations. It always throws up exciting new ideas which can be replicated elsewhere. For a dose of responsible tourism inspiration please read our incredible shortlist. https://lnkd.in/evundFHU. We'll also be using some of these ideas within our new 2025 online training programmes. #responsibletourism #sustainable #maketourismbetter
