Cough as a Biomarker | Digital Health Lead @ Hyfe | Pioneering Cough Monitoring AI & the first Digital Therapeutic (DTx) for Cough

Chronic Refractory Cough is a large and unmet need and cognitive behavioural cough suppression can help! 73% of Refractory Chronic Cough patients report a moderate to high frequency of daily cough bouts. Of these patients, 72% report that their cough is uncontrolled. Using cough suppression techniques, typically taught by speech-language pathologists (SLPs) who specialize in voice and throat disorders, chronic cough patients can learn to recognize and manage their urge to cough. This approach can lead to a significant reduction in both cough frequency and the number of daily cough bouts. Cough management techniques are available in a digital format, with cough monitoring included. Give it a try on your smartphone (both iOS and Android): CoughPro #Cough #AI #DigitalHealth #Biomarker #ChronicCough

Cough as a Biomarker | Digital Health Lead @ Hyfe | Pioneering Cough Monitoring AI & the first Digital Therapeutic (DTx) for Cough

Cough: New Therapies (in refractory chronic cough, IPF and DTx) European Respiratory Society hosted an ERS Vision Live panel discussion on new cough therapies, moderated by Prof. Surinder Birring and Dr. Jacky Smith. Expert panelists Dr. Imran Satia, Dr. Slovarp Laurie and Prof. Marlies Wijsenbeek-Lourens discussed: - Emerging drug classes for refractory chronic cough - Speech and language therapy interventions for chronic cough - Cough and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) Of particular interest was the potential of a novel digital therapeutic (DTx) for chronic cough, based on cognitive behavioural cough suppression techniques. Non-invasive, accessible, and affordable, such DTx solutions could either serve as alternatives to drug treatments or complement emerging pharmacotherapies. Prof. Marlies Wijsenbeek-Lourens also underscored the need for standardized cough measurement and interpretation across therapeutic areas, emphasizing, “we need to be unifying the way we measure cough.” This aligns with discussions at the IPF Summit in Boston this summer, where experts emphasized that “cough is a sleeper biomarker in IPF.” With continuous cough monitoring technologies now available, there is a timely opportunity to explore the value of cough as a biomarker: predictive, prognostic, indicative of treatment response, among other... #Cough #Biomarker #IPF #ChronicCough #DigitalTherapeutics #DTx

To support the development of an accurate, point-of-care cough-based triage tool for TB, we have compiled a large multi-country database of cough sounds from individuals being evaluated for TB. The dataset includes more than 700,000 cough sounds from 2,143 individuals with detailed demographic, clinical and microbiologic diagnostic information. We aim to empower researchers in the development of cough sound analysis models to improve TB diagnosis, where innovative approaches are critically needed to end this long-standing pandemic. 🔗 Link in the comments

AI-based analysis of cough sounds has the potential to transform the diagnosis and management of tuberculosis in low-resource settings. I'm so proud of Hyfe for our involvement in creating this open and free dataset of 700,000 cough sounds from 2,143 individuals across seven countries, to enable more research in this area cc Simon Grandjean Lapierre https://lnkd.in/dVG2JsxR

☀️ Life at Hyfe ☀️ How sunny, lovely and productive remote, flexible work can be! Our ML engineer George Kafentzis shares his experience working at Hyfe: "Besides the usual flexibility that remote work allows for families (work while waiting for kids to finish their outdoor activities etc), I am allowed to offer my family a full month of vacations to my hometown, and sometimes join them at the beach in the morning on a working day, thus pushing my working hours for an hour or two later!" #flexibleworking #flexibility #remotework #hyfeai

Hyfe has successfully deployed its AI-powered cough detection technology in a study led by Dr. Carlos J. Chaccour D. at the Universidad de Navarra  🌍 The study, published in Lung Journal, shows how our app objectively tracks and quantifies chronic cough, providing continuous, real-time data. Key insights from the study: 🔬 Significant variability in daily cough rates 📊 Unprecedented data for managing chronic cough and potentially improving treatment strategies With this technology, Hyfe is advancing respiratory health monitoring into the era of precision medicine. Our mission: to make cough monitoring as easy and essential as tracking heart rate or blood pressure. We’re excited to expand this research further and collaborate with healthcare providers worldwide!
